Something that I'm starting to appreciate about Ryusoulger is how active the villains are, it's refreshing after coming off Lupat where the villains mostly stayed in their lair. In fact, the Druidons don't even have a dedicated lair yet.

I agree with Byg42. I love how the villains are getting up off their butts to try and accomplish their goals. I am liking Wizeru a whole lot more now that he is better established. I like that, currently, they are subverting the whole "villains sitting around doing nothing" trope by having commanders who actually play an active role, only they aren't effective because they are incompetent. I thought the comedy worked really well in this regard with both Wizeru and Kureon's reactions to DimeVolcano's quizzes.
The episode itself was great. I like how DimeVolcano has a ton of personality, which we have only seen snippets of with Driken and Tyramigo. Him being able to speak Japanese helps a ton. I really like his subplot with the little kid, looking out for him while he gets his eye surgery. It feels kind of unique and it gives personality to an otherwise typical new-item episode. Interesting format for the episode too. No mech fight! Of course, they are saving KishiryOh-DimeVolcano's debut for next time, but the lack of forced robot battle helped the episode's overall pacing. Even though it was a Red focus episode, it didn't feel too overbearing because Kou hasn't had much focus in general so far, which is super refreshing. I still don't like the trend of power-ups going exclusively to red, but MeraMera Soul's armour looks amazing. And another strong thing about this series is that it's never just about one character. Melt was a punchline for a scene and Banba helped Kou discover the enemy ploy. It feels like a team effort, even during the focus episodes. Love this show. Haruto...Showtime...Wizard?
A nice episode to introduce DimeVolcano. I liked the comedic parts of Melto feeling the pressure of answering the riddle and Wyzul and Kreon's antics were funny too. The villains not having a lair, wow I hadn't noticed that until Byg42 pointed it out. I liked the armor and I hope it's not red exclusive though it probably is. Or someone on the team gets to wear it once on a focus episode. Man i miss team power-ups.

Yeah, I don't have any complaints with this one. The characters were all used well, for one. Having Koh's childlike, innocent personality be what wins over DimeVolcano makes even more sense than it already would when the episode further contextualizes things by having a literal child be the only person he's shown to like. Ryusoulger has proven itself as being really good at two things to me. One of them is putting small but effective twists on its plots, and having the point of the quizzes not be the actual quizzes at all definitely continues that trend.
The other thing it's really good at is splitting its character focus, which in this case means lots of good stuff from Melto, who has somehow become the most developed member of the group in no time at all. Major props for the "expectations" gag, especially, for packing in WAY more detail than anyone is going to notice all at once. It's actually genuinely impressive.

I am not a fan of the one main villain at a time approach until they get killed off though, instead of showing us the full villain team, even in shadows.
That is mainly a nitpick mind. I did like the episode, and the show itself has been fine so far. |

EDIT: Like don't get me wrong Koh is a giant goofball himself but he does display a certain level of awareness about the situation that I do appreciate. Last edited by MadScientistWorkin; 05-27-2019 at 08:32 PM.. |

. Though it would be hilarious if they pull a Buredoran with Kureon.
