So anyone looking forward to this movie? Teaser came out of nowhere and is out less then two months from now. I remember when the first movie came out when I was in High School when I was 16. People all over the Internet in 2007 was trying to figure out on what the movie really was. People where analyzing on the trailer looking for clues on all over on Youtube. People thought it could be a sequel to Godzilla 1998, a Voltron live action movie, American remake of The Host, a Cthulhu film or a movie tie into December 21, 2012.

I like the mystery behind Cloverfield. I remember JJ hinted other monsters existing besides Clover back in 2008 when asking about doing a sequel.

Oh Cloverfield. Just when I thought I couldn't be disappointed in a kaiju more than Godzilla 1998, you happened.
As a disaster film, it was lame because all the footage was first person shaky cam, so the scale of destruction never really hit since seeing it from the eyes of some annoying fucker's camera just never felt large. As a kaiju, you were not interesting in the slightest in design, basically requiring the little baby things it dropped to antagonize the cast with their ambiguous abilities (One chick's head exploded just by being scratched? The fuck?). As a movie, it was just a large bore since it was just some annoying guy's face in the camera going "I'm so startled you guys" when it's not poorly angled shots of the camera shaking while running. Basically, I'm not hyped up for this film. It seems they ditched the Blair Witch style of filming for a more normal method, which is nice, though.

I don’t get why this has anything to do with a monster movie though… is this now a thriller movie in a weird house and the monster just exists in the same world, stomping around somewhere else or what?
I never cared for Cloverfield to begin with, but this is just so much WTF I can’t see myself getting into this either. |

Its not meant to be a sequel to Cloverfield. Its just meant to be seen as a spin-off movie that is telling a story set in the universe of Cloverfield but doesnt necessarily has anything to do with the monster at all. The way Badrobot and JJ have talked about this movie is more in the vein of "Cloverfield" being more of an anthology series, like what the Halloween franchise was meant to be back in the day.

Oh, I see. I don't know how well it'll work, considering Halloween brought back Michael after 2, but I guess they're trying something different...

Halloween III: Season of the Witch was a genuine good horror Film but people just wanted to have Meyers back and couldnt get behind the whole anthology thing. A shame cause aside from the first three movies the franchise is pure garbage
I'm interested to see where they might go with this movie. Will it be good? Maybe. Like with the first Cloverfield I definitely expect the marketing to turn out more fun than the actual movie though |

In the trailer, they said that there is something out there. I would imagine that there is a giant monster. Either the same monster from the first movie or a brand new one.
