It is sad and unfortunate that the writer of Beast Wars passed away...

I didn't even realize that he died until today. Rest In Peace, Mr. DiTillio, and thank you so much for bringing the very show that first got me into the Transformers franchise in the first place to life.

I end up watching Bumblebee and I thought it was okay. It was better than the Michael Bay Transformers movie, but that is not a hard feat to do. I did like the main character for the most part and the movie had the same vibe that 80s movies like Batteries Not Included did.
However, I feel like the story and characters are nothing that special to be honest. Charlie's next-door neighbor is your typical cliche love interest and John Cena's character is the typical generic military bad guy that I've seen so many times. The whole movie very predictable and doesn't bring anything new (Iron Giant, Terminator 2, etc. did a similar plot done better in my opinion). The movie also has some cringy moments (Like the scenes with the bullies) and some really dumb characters (Like the scientist). I give the movie credit for feeling more faithful to the series than the Michael Bay movies did. I give the movie a 6/10.

I had a lot of fun with Bumblebee. It took a lot of the elements from the Bayformers movies and somehow made it work. Now if only they can decide if Bumblebee is a reboot or a prequel or not that would be great if the movies going forward can follow the same tone.

I will be up for more movies not from Bay if they can give us a better script. I do agree the opening for Bumblebee was epic. I was like "I can recognize the Transformers for once".
I always have a soft spot for that movie since I grew up with it. Not a bad movie.

You know what would be funny? If they suddenly fast-forward to the 90s for the next movie within that world and they give us the transformers in G2 colors.

I think Bumblebee is a reboot given how the movie would cause major holes in the live action Bay universe if it did.
