I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to knock your opinion. I'm pretty hard on Applimon too, I don't think it's that great, and it's totally fair to be critical of its run thus far. Just...like, I just don't think it's doing anything right now it hasn't been trying to do this whole time. Sometimes it just works out better than other times.
As for episode 17, I doubt I can actually say anything that would make you like the show more. My appreciation for that episode probably just stems from the fact that I enjoy Eri a lot. If you're not a fan of hers in particular I can imagine it was probably not very interesting. For me it was just a nice opportunity to have an Eri-focused episode in which she was allowed to be her best. I enjoyed it more than all the other plot stuff that's been happening, for better or for worse, but....that's just me. I mean, it's true that they are kind of dumb concepts for applications, but for this franchise (which has had literal poop monsters) I just don't see how an unrealistic app monster is such a big deal. It may be dumb, but I don't see how it's much of a negative. Ain't that the truth. As I said, I don't really pay that much attention to what other fans are saying, but based on how much people hate on the other seasons, I can only imagine that people are being pretty harsh on Appmon. Not that it's a great show, but it's also not that bad. Appmon is pretty middle of the road show were it sometimes kinda good, but other times it's kinda bad. Honestly, it's one of those shows, so far, that you watch once, but not again, which is not to say it's necessarily bad, just not great enough warrant a rewatch, but who knows the second half could be really amazing. p.s. I think Ultimate Appmon designs are pretty cool. |

Though I think disdain is kind of a strong way to put it. It's not like I'm really opposed to idol stuff in principle, I mean, I've watched Love Live, some Im@s, and generally enjoyed it...what I do tend to dislike is having idol shit thrown into shows at random and having it overtake the narrative, be it as a whole or momentarily, when that isn't what the show is actually supposed to be about. ...which, well, should, in theory, apply to Appmon as well, but it's just...Eri. I think I mentioned this in this thread before (like...17 episodes ago? jeez, time does fly...), but I really do like her. I like that while yes, she's an idol, she's also just kind of this big weird dork trying to push a forceful persona at the same time. I didn't expect much from her before she debuted, as I was expecting her to be either a generic tsundere or tomboy or a standard issue idol girl. But she's not really quite any of those things. She has elements of all those things, but she's not just any one of them. To me she just feels like one of the more...real? characters? Like...Haru, Astra, Rei...to me they all just feel super tropey and archetypal. Astra perhaps less so in his better moments, but those are far and few in between. Not that I really have anything against these guys either, but in contrast to them, Eri feels like she has something resembling an actual multifaceted personality. ...but you know, I dunno. Honestly, maybe I'm just crazy/projecting/both. Whatever the case...I do tend to enjoy her focus episodes more. But as you say, it's pretty middling overall. |

Hey, you and me both.

Eri giving the impression she would be a standard tsundere character probably has do with pigtails because in world of anime pigtails = tsundere more often than not. |

One weird thing about Eri is I do not remember much about her except her mother was usually busy and she wanted to bring smiles to people's faces. Not sure if I didn't to me not liking the show to where I was just trying to get through it, or my bad memory.
Also one more thing I forgot to mention, the villain what ever her name is very dumb. her plans are so stupid. Agreed. |

The villain's name is Mienumon, and ya her plans tend be pretty ineffectual except for one, and her reasons for doing these plans tend to be for petty reasons, but mainly in the Eri focused episodes for reason. I will say though her "giving" the heroes the 7-code appmon has more to do with pure contrivance than anything else.

Oh hey, I forgot to post my thoughts on Lost after watching it. So a week and a half later and looking back on it how do I feel...
Meh? I was glad that at least one of the partners didn't immediately bond with the Digidestined. Although the execution could have been a little better as she just ended up being annoying and stubborn. If there were no consequences, what was the point of the reset? Oh wait, there wasn't a point. Because there weren't any consequences. Because it turns out everyone's actually the same and they'll easily restore all of their bonds in no time, just weakened for a bit making our unnecessarily creepy big bad of the movie able to get an upper hand. Speaking of the real big bad... Of freaking course it's Yggdrasil. *sigh* Still no 02 acknowledgement. Ugh. But seeing the original team and the birth of the Sovereigns was a cool moment and some solid lore building. Hououmon was also great. At first. I was even able to see why Seraphimon would be used now if taking the whole arc from the last movie until that point into perspective of restoring their hope (which again is why a regularly airing TV show would've been better so that might have been fresher). But HerculesKabuterimon wasn't needed. And together they really diluted Hououmon's first time to shine

Finally got around to watching the new part of Tri.
I like the ending theme of this part.

Just finished watching the new part and well it did have cool moments and even stuff I liked but for some reason I don't feel excited by it like the other parts. Now for my questions.
Was that a Hippogriffonmon that became Suzakumon? Also yay LoaderLeomon! I can't remember but did the kids tell the agent lady that the digimon would have their memories erased? If they did then what the hell is with her? Plus how the hell does she know that Tapirmon was her partner? Think she is going to die? I am fine with Yggdrasil being a villian if they do something good with that, But in Savers, isn't Yggdrasil the digimon god? If I remember right the Royal Knights had to convince him to attack the human world so what reason could he have for Tri? Ok fine an evil Genai, but why the hell was he so rapey? When he had Sora pinned down I literally was questioning if he was groping her tit or not, maybe even rip her shirt open with the way he was acting. Hopefully the next part can fix these issues we have. |
