I place this one in the middle of the pack. It's not as good as the Kouga shows, but I'd definitely rank it ahead of TOWSITD and Makai no Hana.
Latest episode was good, although clearly had some stuff that makes no sense since the Gold Storm movie isn't fansubbed yet. I'm a little worried by the preview for next week: it screams "clip show!" I'd agree with your placement of this. A very solid #3, but with the Kouga shows the bar was set pretty damn high. |

Ep 23, and done !
This was a good solid show. I enjoy the over the top vilains (ONORE DECA~ ); the story plots were mostly focused on Ladan so not gaving really onto filler or recreation episodes, but it has enough different characters to make it interesting. TOWSITD gave the impression it was settled in the near future, but this one has nothing futuristic in it, the change was a bit confusing, now I wonder if Ryuga's world is a parallel world to Kouga's ? I haven't watch the movie, how was the setting ? Well, I understand they can't pull a giant naked woman each season.

GARO Gold Storm Shou Episode 23: This was an absolutely fantastic finale. This was a truly epic final battle from all the fighting between Ryuuga and Jinga, Daigo vs the Horrors, Rian vs Amily, and Gald and Ryume trying to stop Radan from moving. Every part of the Ryuuga vs Jinga was brilliant the armor, the transformations, and the giant battle at the end was brilliant. Rian being used after Amily was defeated was a twist and that amulet being used I enjoyed especially showing the characters who died from their first series. Daigo came back and kicked ass his part was amazing to see, I loved his giant axe holding off Radan for a bit too. Gald finally sealing Radan was great I enjoyed that he succeeded in his mission. I loved the Giant GARO vs Radan fight, the special effects were so great this finale. I am happy that Rian lived and Ryuuga and Rian left together at the end. Also their scene grabbing that bit of life energy was beautiful too. Overall this was a fantastic season, they basically learned from all their mistakes of the last season and created a fantastic season. I hope we get another Ryuuga season pretty soon because his are my favorites.
Overall as a season I would probably place this along with TOWSID on top as my favorites, I don't know which one I liked better but overall the storytelling and combat I think were better here. I have nothing against Kouga's seasons because I love them too I just think that Ryuuga's seasons are some of the best ever (The storytelling made up for the bad CGI of TOWSID).

I haven't watch the movie, how was the setting ? Well, I understand they can't pull a giant naked woman each season. Ryuga got to fight An old man and his cubes of death, and a giant mecha-demon-castle with rocket legs. It's different. Having just watched episode 23, good to know I totally called it about Garo going giant and fighting Ladan while Decade chews yet more scenery and continues to be great. If anything, I'd have preferred the ground fight afterwards between Ryuga and Zinga to be a bit longer. A thing I liked about the Kouga seasons was that the finales would often be the climactic moments of Garo finishing off the "big bad" of the show, then a more personal fight before we get an epilogue. Makai Senki did it perfectly - Kouga and everyone else bring down Edea and go home. Then Sigma shows up, near death and decides he is going to ruin Kouga's life in the final moments of his own. A proper dirty punchup here before Ryuga stabs Zinga would have been great. I had mixed feelings about Rian not staying dead. I guess Garo's always had a thread of hope running through it over the years and seeing Rian's dream coming true - Kantai up and running again with Daigo training the next generation of Makai Knights - was wonderful. I'm guessing the lext live-action stuff with be something with Raiga, and that Biku movie, but I'd welcome Ryuga and Rian back again with open arms. If Aguri and Takeru show up at some point and we have something close to a TOWSITD reunion (The feels when images of Burai, Enhou and Hakana flash by as Rian is about to sacrifice herself...), I'm down for that. A great finale to a consistently great season (The only one this year). |

Man, Mashahiro Inoue has to be the most .gifable actor in tokusatsu. There is absolutely nothing resembling subtlety in his performance.
Pretty good finale, overall. The big climactic fight was cool, if a little too anime. The best part was the slow motion final duel between Zinga and Ryuga, though. that was really well done. I honestly wondered if the show was going to have the balls to leave Rian dead. I'm glad she survived, since she's a great character, but it would've been interesting to see her sacrifice stick (although possibly a bit hollow, since this is the end of Ryuga's story, for all we know). I guess the next anime starts up soon, then. I'll give it a shot, but after the generic snoozefest that was cartoon Garo #1, I'm not holding out a ton of hope. |

Yeah I believe it starts the first week of October which is could possibly be a reason this season was shorter. Anyways the first GARO Anime isn't that bad well I am only 11 episodes in and by the second 5 episodes I watched it got a lot better. That being said I like the location and what the characters look like in the new series a lot more.

Finished Goldstorm last night. It was a pretty decent series, and the most story driven of any Garo I've seen. I did like the back story of the villians and the new characters they brought in were kind of interesting for the most part. although i do wonder if this is the end of Ryuga's story.

I seem to recall a Raiga movie being announced last year.
The thing is, before that, the next thing with Ryuga was only announced as a movie, and it ended up being a full second season with Ryuga and Rian. Wouldn't be shocked if the same ends up happening with Raiga. I think we're due for the now-annual event where they announce a shitload of new Garo stuff. We might get an announcement of sorts then. A quick google as far as the last couple of years indicates late-November. Also, amusingly, a lot of people who were watching the anime last year and not even really knowing Garo's tokusatsu roots, a little shocked that so much stuff was announced all at once last year. |
