Eh. To me, it honestly does. It feels like they're afraid they can't build a good female character unless the audience is directly aroused by her. So DD breasts bouncing in slow motion with obvious nipples poking through and panty shots to make the audience like her! :I

I love anime. That's about all I have to say on the matter really

Oh, apart from that I didn't really care for Akira either, but I've decided I really should give it a second viewing at some point.

And Akira is often heralded as some classic epic that never gets old. Well it has. Kanedo had a cool bike. That was about it. Multimedia for these titles just keeps getting shoved into our faces. And not necessarily because they're good or still hold up. To be honest they really haven't held fantastically over the years. NGE in particular. Akira is just bad

I watch anime if the plot or style is strong enough, but the way certain emotions are exaggerated, moe stuff, the damned mascot characters and the fan service always leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

There are shows without it, but even some of the best shows end up suffering from certain cliches inherited from the medium. Plenty of those shows can definitely still be rewarding though.
