I know about halfway through go-busters they changed a lot of things (theme, power up suits, new replacement for cb01-Ace) but what would have happened if that had not happened. Were there any plans for a large Cluster FFER mecha combo to tie all the machines together?
I ask this because on the minpla RH-03 there are two pegs on either side of each of the rotor blades. To my knowledge those are not used for anything, much like the plethera of unsued ports on the back of minpla ACE. Were they planing something big for the end? Also, what was the orginal second half of the plot going to be like before they scrapped it and went for a lighter more fun (as much a go-busters can) second half? |

The show was revamped but trust me they don't design new toys halfway through a shows cycle like that due to poor ratings or anything else. The introduction of Tategami LiOh was always going to happen. Generally all DX Sentai toys have at least a tab or 2 that doesn't get used in the final design of the toy. Just vestigial elements like how humans have tail bones.
As for that minipla that's where the mask for Go-Buster Oh goes. When the Rabbit is in copter mode the standard storage for the mask isn't usable because the legs fold up. So you plug it on the blades to make a small second set of rotors. That has nothing to do with a combination that never happened. The plot may have been altered but I doubt it was very significantly. At the halfway point there isn't alot that can be done to change things up outside of new stock footage scenes and monster of the week type stories. The overall plot is pretty locked in by that point. Remember these shows are planned about a a year and half to 2 years out.

Concerning toys, they go through designs and redesigns before the show makes it to air. Most likely, the ports and pegs existed from a previous design that were just left and forgotten for the final design. As for Minipla, they have tons of ports that could be considered "Cheats" to hold items or additional parts. My Kyoryu and Geki Miniplas have unused ports, too.
I don't know anything about the show, but that explains the toys.

Though, they are the same size as the pegs on all the other weapons in the line, so you can have a megazord hold it like a giant boomerang. It's a pretty neat use.

Unused ports are often the toy designers saying "Here, go nuts!" Take for example the Claw Battle Zord from the PR Samurai line. That thing has zord builder ports in it's hands for crying out loud! But why? So the kids/adults who buy them can have a little more fun seeing what the toys can do outside of what it says on the box.

I honestly wish I knew what the original plan was. I see Go-Busters alot like Decade. Solid ideas, great designs, but it all fell apart somewhere along the line. The Mechs in Go-Bust are beautiful things to behold. The goggle over visor thing, the Buddyroids (Aside from Stag).. Those didn't work as much. Neither did the story, really. Now it had good elements. Much like Decade did. But.. They just couldn't pull it off.

While not necessarily their original intention, the ports in the back of Ace can hold it's sword.
It's pretty nifty. |

wow, I had now idea. That propeller boomerang thing sounds cool. Im gonna have to try that.
I did know they were planed that far in advance. It still bums me out we haven't had a giant cluster FFer mecha using all the parts in 3 years. Sigh. Thanks for all the quick answers guys. You are all awsome! |

I suspect that the original version of the show would have been just a lot more done-in-one tower defense episodes, with the show eventually ending on the invasion of Messiah's world and the sacrifice of the Busters' parents.
