I wasn't the biggest fan of the new Gavan movie, but it's kinda nice for these two to get starring roles after Gavan and STZ. And I'll admit, I'm gonna try and watch at least Shaider's movie just for Date's actor.

Well that was…certinally interesting.
If I took anything from that trailer, it's wonder why the hell the girl isn't Shaider. |

I'm still deeply skeptical because the Space Sheriffs are an intensely boring franchise, but damn if the Shaider trailer doesn't look fun.
The first two Space Sheriffs were played by Kenji Ohba and Hiroshi Watari, who were both members of a Japanese stunt team and very skilled martial artists/stunt actors. For Shaider, however, the producers went with Hiroshi Tsubaraya, who didn't have any real action training and was cast more for his looks. To make up for his lack of fighting skills, actress Naomi Morinaga was added to the show as his sidekick, Annie. She did most of the untransformed stunt work so that the show could still have a lot of exciting action sequences that didn't involve the Shaider suit (also, panty shots - lots and lots of panty shots). It looks like the new film will again be using Annie as a counterpoint to Shaider, although it looks more like she's the serious one while he's kind of a goofball (and, because Koichi Skamoto, probably a lot of upper thigh shots). |

I can't say I'm ridiculously excited for either (although more Metal Heroes is never a bad thing), but Shaider does look like fun.

As for Damii they need more hot pants (Sakamoto...). I guess if the video sales is good a female combat suit won't be a dream anymore (there was one in the Gavan pre-movie comic). |
