Kamen Rider have a central theme and most of them are important for the hero to go through and here’s example of the central themes.
* Kuuga: If violence is needed to combat violence, then when and how does it stop? * Agito: What does it mean to evolve? * Ryuki: Are some wishes or motivations more 'correct' than others, and to what degree can people be justified in striving for them? * Faiz: Just because one is less evolved does not mean they are weaker. * Blade: A theme along the lines of Faiz and goes one step further: What is the final product of evolution - and is it a good thing? * Hibiki: Behave in a way that you believe in. * Kabuto: The positive and negative effects of personal pride and how it connects with one's identity. * Den-O: Can multiple goals that seem contradictory lead towards an outcome that benefits everyone? * Kiva: The actions of the past will affect the future. * Decade: Everyone has their own story to tell. * Double: Alone you are good, together you are better. * OOO: Do people need desire, and if they do, how much of it do they need? * Fourze: The Power of Friendship applies to both heroes and villains. (BTW, Gentaro LOVE this central theme very much!) * Wizard: People need hope, but do they justify the methods used? * Gaim: What do I do with this newly obtained power? If power can only destroy, then what if I don't want to destroy anything? Also, just because adults have lived through more than the children have doesn't mean they know any better. * Drive: Who are the real monsters? * Ghost: What is the value of a person's life? Are individual lives still worth protecting even when that individuality causes conflict with one another? * Amazons: The tragedy of living in a dog-eat-dog world. * Ex-Aid: Would you prefer the real world where there is only one "life" and no "continues" that you have to fight so hard, or would you prefer the world of gaming where you can't die because you have "continues"? * Build: Can science lead to love and peace, even if it can enable war and destruction? Also, the people around us help shape what we become, for better or worse. * Zi-O: Is destiny predetermined? Should we punish someone for something they will do or guide them to a better option? * Zero-One: The positive and negative effects of growing technology. Can technology work side by side with humanity for the better, or are they just expendable tools to be used until they break? Or can it all lead to something much worse? |

Blade's theme is one of humanity and morality.

I liked the original Rider's theme of fighting to protect innocent human lives over everything, even nebulous concepts like peace and justice.

The original Kamen Rider theme was evil vs. evil. Ichigo had to use his powers to fight against evil while fighting for his humanity. His powers were design for evil, but chooses to use it for good.
Evil vs. Evil is always my favorite theme in fiction because it's a fun concept that can lead up to many awesome ideas.

You know, this is actually a really interesting topic, because even just from a few responses it's evident how many people see a lot of different things in one piece of art.
I don't find Blade to be a show that beats you over the head with one obvious theme, but I would agree this is a major part of it. The show really explores this idea of a fundamental goodness people possess as it goes along, and that's reflected in various ways by a lot of the Undead who take on a human form, and Kenzaki's attempts to befriend Hajime over the course of the series. There's a lot of meat on these shows when you really sit down and look at them, huh? I didn't even mention Ghost!

I think all these questions are good themes it's just how does the writer apply these themes and what not that makes them good or bad I think on paper Wizard has an awesome question to the viewer I honestly disagree with your theme on Ex-Aid the theme with Ex-Aid is Can someone really save everyone? At what point does a problem become too big to solve no matter how competent whoever is on the job is? Regardless of intention people can't control when someone lives and or dies

So far I'm really enjoying the way Zero-One, without dragging in any real-world issues, is slightly exploring themes of prejudice and how people treat those different from us through how the different human characters treat HumaGear.

Despite the flaws in this current part of Zero-One I do agree that the overall theme of the show is good.

Ghost could’ve been better if something changed.
Better motto would be: Leave a legacy behind. Whether your goals or dreams succeed or not, you can always leave it for friends and family to carry it out for you. Just thought of the name ghost for a reason. Spirits leave some traces of legacy behind, if it is a good one or a tragic one. If it’s tragic, redeem one’s legacy to right. |
