It's a nice ending. Emotional but leaves room for things to grow again.
A lot of things left unanswered, but I guess I'd rather take a mystery that can be resolved later rather than a hastily rushed explanation at the end for everything. I do wish we could've gotten a glimpse at what Sonoi and Jirou were up to, though.

'Donbrothers was crazy good this year.' could basically encapsulate my thoughts on this show as a whole. While many people might have issues with the show (Murasame barely having anything to do in the last 10 episodes before randomly showing up at the end, Donbros Kaito never being explained, and not really having main villain), I just can't bring myself to care all too much about these issues. I don't have some long thesis I've written about why the show works for me, it just feels nice to watch, and all of the cast are great. But onto the actual episode this thread is for, the last episode was what I was always most worried about for this show, by last episode, I could safely say that I had really enjoyed Donbrothers so far, but if the finale was bad, I wasn't sure what my thoughts would be on the show after it. But, Inoue delivered an actually good and enjoyable finale; doing a plot with the main character losing their memory/having amnesia can sometimes go badly in stories, but here, it actually worked for me. It's hard for me to fully describe my thoughts on this episode, but seeing all of the flashbacks from the past 49 weeks just made me feel nostalgic, even though it hasn't even been a year since the series started. And the role call and how it tied into the plot was just amazing, nothing I could say would be able to do my feelings on the episode justice, while Inoue has a reputation among Toku fans for having very controversial and decisive series no matter what you think of them, Donbrothers is a show that just works great, and I hope King-Ohger maintains the same level of quality. |

Well.
This was, without a doubt in my mind, the best Super Sentai series I have ever seen. It was one of the best ongoing series, period. A masterpiece of the genre, that's a fitting way to sum it up. A wonderfully crafted fever dream, able to reach new heights by fully embracing what it wanted to be, and never backing down. When you thought it could not get any more insane, you were proven wrong. Characters assembled that are simple as they are complex, with sides to them that could surprise and satisfy you in the ways you would never see coming. I never laughed so much at a show, and thus I was never so sad to see it go. But when the final curtain fell, I knew it was an act of completion, to fully make the experience whole. I cannot often say it, but this is a show that will stick with me forever. And even above all the joy I had watching, it taught me a valuable lesson: This genre has so much more to give. I cannot wait to see what else might come in the future. From this point on, whenever a new Tokusatsu beginning awaits, instead of thinking "I could end up being bored by this new series..." I will instead say "This could potentially be the next Avataro Sentai Donbrothers!" And even when I'm wrong, I can still have fun regardless. But one day I will be right again. That's a thought I will try to take with me. |

Kaito said he liked the Revice finale, and clearly the crew here liked it so much they decided to do the whole memory lost plot too :P
No but for real this was a nice, sweet little thing that wraps up just enough of the things I cared about from this show in a neat bow. Although it just now occurred to me the epilogue didn't show what Sonoi is up to. Until the VS movie shows otherwise, I'm going to assume he's still doing art as a hobby but also lurks around Tarou's delivery place! A year later and Don't Boo! Donbrothers is still the best song ever ^_^ Shame it doesn't make an appearance for the end... Last edited by FreshToku; 02-26-2023 at 11:22 AM.. |

All I'm saying best of luck to Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger because these are the biggest Super Sentai shoes to fill
Now I've seen my share of modern Super Sentai where I said it's my new favorite, but Donbrothers is on an entirely different category. It proved that you don't need to promote a thousand toys and you don't need to follow every SS cliche on the book to make a good series. Just write good characters and a good story and that would be enough. Break some rules, think outside the box, get creative with your story, and you'll have amazing shows like this. |

They didn't play 'Don't Boo! Donbrothers' in the finale -25 Points.
I'm kidding what a great end to the show. Focusing on the part that truly matters the characters. Wrapping their stories up while also leaving things open to the future. Bring on King-Ohger the future for Sentai has never looked brighter.

Honestly can't believe how good this show was. It felt so different yet so familiar as a Sentai.
I didn't end up liking Zenkaiger as much as I thought I would, but Reiwa Sentai has been kicking butt so far. Insects are my favorite motiff so I'm beyong excite for King-Ohger, but I will surely miss Don Brothers.

It's nice to have a Sentai that has characters that feel like real people rather than the goodie two shoe types.
Donbrothers was the first Sentai I truly enjoyed in a very long time. |
