IIRC they wanted to adapt Blade, but that was vetoed because the higher ups wanted more characters for more merch.

Blade would have worked so much better, I feel.

DK26.
I actually watched this whole episode without actually writing anything, that has never happened before but this was such a bridge episode. The best scenes were with Kit, as he's probably the best actor in this other than O'Leary. The scene with him talking to his Dad was very powerful, and very believable and the tangible panic in his voice while in the prison cell was also great. Xaviax gets to become a Rider but he does nothing worth mentioning during his time, and the new actor who gets to ADR over the suit sucks. Admittedly the fight in the bookstore was fun even if it was a continuity pit and lacked a certain sense of punch when you compare it to the sense of power featured in the Ryuki footage. And yep, that was Wrath's introductory episode.

Blade would have been cool but I don't understand why they didn't try Kabuto.

DK 27.
For a show with largely pretty solid, if not a little unfocused, storytelling I was disappointed the No Men come from nowhere and everyone acts like they're some huge deal. Honestly though I guess I'd rather this, than all of the fantastic introductions for things that ultimately end up going nowhere. Huge chunks of Dragon Knight are just made up of wasted potential, honestly. Rewatching this show has not been kind. Kinda makes me wanna rewatch RPM and see how that holds up as it came out around the same time and it's been about the same length of time since I last saw that as well. Not really all that hot on Wrath's suit design, but both he and Siren make feathers awesome - although Siren kinda sucks, Wrath seems a bit more of a badass. There were some really great action sequences in this episode. Quote:
In itself it's great, as it creates very imaginative storytelling, but I can't help but wonder how much better the show could have been if they got to adapt a Rider show with a small cast of core Riders like they clearly wanted.

There were some really great action sequences in this episode. Blade is still best as it only has four riders. Dragon Knight is proof that more Riders =/= better series. Pretty much all of the Dragon Knight Riders, bar Kit and Len, have been entirely pointless in the long term. And the actual Ryuki footage has largely been completely disconnected from their actual story and characters. It feels like they actively hate adapting Ryuki and will fight tooth and claw to deviate as far from that show as possible. In itself it's great, as it creates very imaginative storytelling, but I can't help but wonder how much better the show could have been if they got to adapt a Rider show with a small cast of core Riders like they clearly wanted. |

There would be some stark differences given how different the four Riders of Blade are compared to the ten gajillion in Ryuki.

DK 28. Wow that episode was really anti-climactic.
I dunno, something about the quality of the effects or the way it's choreographed or I dunno what just makes the American footage feel fake. Ryuki has its fair share of shit CGI, but as you watch Wrath and Sting chase our heroes it feels less like a climactic clashed between power armoured heroes and more like a bunch of people playing LARP. I dunno how to explain it, something about it is just so off. It's a shame too, because Kit's actual escape from the No Men was awesome and it had lots of cool moments that had potential to grow into bigger, greater moments but like a lot of things in this show it just sort of fizzled out.

That's kind of a dumb name LOL. But seriously, While I like Ryuki, Blade would have been better adaptation material. 4 Riders would make the show feel more tight knit and the team would feel very more important with the focus.

Where next on my Rider journey, friends? Should I brave the terrible Hibiki video quality? Should I brave Decade and see if it actually deserves the shit it gets? Or some other series you suggest?
