Decade 07.
Wow the Battle Trial Ryuki Riders are pretty lame. I guess it makes sense for in story reasons but I was kinda excited to see what they'd do with those powers now they had an actual budget. Abyss probably gets off the best, as he's new, but I just really don't care about that suit or the character. But I don't think we were ever supposed care that much, as he was basically just a plot device. Shame really, considering he's a whole new Rider. So Ryuki just literally turns into his contract monster and gives Decade his Rider Kick? But doesn't Decade get that anyway if he turns into Ryuki? Well that was lame... Luckily the Trial Battle itself continues to be a deliciously thought out and imaginative set up for fighting. I am really sad it isn't its own show, it could have been really interesting. I'm sad to leave this world, but now we're seeing the effects of the world's combining I'm more than game for Blade World. Another show I didn't care for so I'm excited to see what they do, but considering Tsukasa has already beaten an Ace Undead with Ryuki Powers I dunno how they are gonna have any tension in the next story. Yusuke and Tsukasa's bromance actually makes me appreciate Tsukasa a lot more as a character than I necessarily did at the beginning. He's a lot more charismatic than the haters lead me to believe, and his wry humour reminds me a lot of Haruto and you all know I love him. |

Although his brief appearances were great.

He's not been as proactive as Haruto has yet sadly, but that sorta seems part of Tsukasa's nature. But I have appreciated the wry humour and the fact that he's a lot more nuanced than any of the haters have wanted to admit.

You say that as if there's a level to Tsukasa that I'm just afraid to admit is there, when there really isn't. I don't see any form of complexities in him and his humor more often seems needlessly mean spirited.

He's dealing with some pretty heavy stuff, and although amnesia is one of the cheapest devices in all the writing books, it makes a lot of sense of why he is why he is. There are more than enough antagonistic for the sake of antagonism toku characters without concentrating one who has his reasons, even if you don't like this reasons.

He's not antagonistic, he's just unlikable. Being needlessly cruel and rude to other characters that everyone seems to respond with "Oh, it's just tough love!"

What heavy stuff? The "Kill all riders" bullshit plays no part until the finale of the series. Until then, all his actions are as if he was never even given that order.

Actually it's been a pretty big part all along, Decade has spent these first seven episodes learning that he doesn't just have to destroy - he can also help and save, while Yusuke acts like an emotional anchor to keep him grounded and balanced. It's a really nice relationship, where one grows through the other.

I can't comment on the long game yet as I'm only seven episodes in, so you may be right. Finding it hard to believe right now though, that a show could ever drop the ball as hard as Gokaiger did, ever again.
