I think that's just a comic relief quirk, and not a seriously disabling trauma. Sure, he'd have a gigantic fit over losing the doll, but I think once or twice he actually loses it (or leaves it behind) without throwing a tantrum in the show. I feel like had it been destroyed completely, he'd more realistically replace goofy spazzing with blistering anger. Maybe he'd cry about it for a bit, but the guy is all about the END of all things after all. I'm sure Maki would accept the doll's fate before taking revenge on whoever didn't let it have the proper ending he'd imagined for it.
Remembered another prime candidate, too: Archbishop Wing from V3. Easily the most boring and forgettable general of the entire Showa era. He was only in six episodes and most were straight remakes of the original series. His costume was boring, he was sandwiched between the far superior Baron Fang and Marshall Armor, and he didn't even get an epic final showdown with V3 - Marshall Armor just killed him to make an entrance. |

I'm liking these answers so far!
I've only seen bits of the showa era stuff--mostly whats available at Henshin Fever on facebook. I especially love the early Hongo episodes, when the Kamen Rider formula was new and there was kind of this subtle awkwardness in the production and fight choreography. I'll definitely check out some of the episodes with these villains though. But yeah, please continue posting your thoughts on terrible KR villains! Post some details about why you think they're bad too. Stuff like general level of incompetence, personality, monster design, etc. |

Shocker as an organization is full of dumbasses.
They're in the twentieth goddamn century and they insist on equipping their stupid henchmen with nothing but swords. Swords! Literally the only two times I remember them ever including guns into their plans was when they gave them to people they had brainwashed. Shocker probably wouldn't even need the monsters if they just upgraded to having bullets in their plans. It's a dumb organization. Also, the Garanda Empire sucks, and is boring. Not that Gedon was super inspired, but at least their motivation was a little more focused and it was a good foil to Amazon. The Garanda Empire was just a generic evil organization and it was generically boring. It really made the show kind of drag for the latter half. Also the Bee and Owl had like exactly the same fricking plan. Man. Garanda is bullshit. The Mole Beastman is also kind of a terrible villain, because he ended up being the greatest hero. Love that bastard. |
