"Will dreamcastegirl cry at it?" should be the new standard by which all media is judged. I spent this evening curled up on the sofa with my little cat, watching Nogizaka46 Musical Sailor Moon through my tears.
I've been a fan of Nogizaka46 since their debut, and even though I haven't kept up as much as I should have as many of my favourite members have left now, I kept seeing posters for the new Sailor Moon musical earlier last year, and I was super excited for these shows. Yamashita Mizuki in particular is perfect during this in her role as Usagi, and combines that wistful charm and wilful determination that makes her such a memorable character. In all honesty, all of the cast were beautiful in their roles, but it was especially Zukki who shined in the the staring role. Outside of Nogi, I really liked the casting of Tamaki Nami as Queene Beryl, and Kojima Sari as Zoisite. I'm especially fond of these plays in which all the male roles are performed by women, which is how real life would be as well, if I had any say in the matter. Watching the Team Moon performance tonight was an absolute delight. I absolutely cried my way through the whole thing, and I am so excited to watch the Team Star and 2019 versions now. Everything about this performance—the casting, the acting, the music, the effects—is so beautiful, and it made my heart swell with excitement and reminded why I love this stuff so much, why I so desperately want to believe in heroes despite how awful this past year has been, despite everything that I'm scared of about the future, Nogizaka46 Musical Sailor Moon is a beautiful, beautiful reminder of what it is to have hope. tl;dr please go watch these, Sea of Serenity have done a beautiful job of subbing these performances and everything about them is perfect. Also: I'm crying again, as I write all this. |

Dunno about this particular iteration of the musical but it has been one of those gigs toku alumni have been part of alongside the Prince of Tennis musicals. Miyuki Kanbe who played Hinaka in Kamen Rider Hibiki was Sailor Moon, Miyabi Matsuura who played Naomi in Ultraman Orb had a stint as Sailor Mercury, and Yu Takahashi who was Yuri in Kamen Rider Kiva was Sailor Jupitor at one point.
And 3 other notable toku alumni were Tuxedo Mask at one point in their careers; Yuta Mochizuki who played Geki/Tyrannoranger in Zyuranger, Kenji Urai who played N Daguba Zeba in Kamen Rider Kuuga, and Kousei Amano(then Hironari Amano) who played Sakuya Tachibana/Kamen Rider Garren in Kamen Rider Blade. I'm sure there are more other than these 6 but that is far as I know. Last edited by Sunred; 01-16-2021 at 04:13 PM.. |

I'm generally a fan of the stage-shows of anything to be honest. I'll even watch stage performances of Rider and sentai shows that I'm not keen on the source material for, simply because these performances are always really fun. In this case however, yeah, I just like Sailor Moon basically. |
