I really want to get into Kamen Rider. I saw the Dragon Redder fig on BBTS, and fell in love with the design. But I know nothing about the series, or what a foodroid is, or anything. So... little help? Where should I start my Kamen Ridering?

Drag Redder is from Kamen Rider Ryuki. He's the contract monster for the title character. As for the foodroids those come from Kamen Rider Fourze. But the last 3 Rider series have had the same types of robots. W had memory gadgets, OOO had Candroids, now Fourze has Foodroids. Id say a good basic show to star with is Kuuga or Agito but if you want something a little more recent I highly recommend W and Decade. W has a great noir feel to it and Decade gives brief introductions to a lot of previous series. It was my first experience and I've been hooked since.

You might try "Kamen Rider Dragon Knight," the English adaptation of Ryuki. Its pretty entertaining in its own right.
If you prefer to stick to the source material, I say Kamen Rider W, an excellent blend of action and comedy. |

I think I'm going to try and find Decade or W first. I love anything Noir, and having Decade give me backstory helps. But I will definately check out Dragon Knight. And I have help with the toys, Peaugh on Youtube does nice reviews of the Fourze stuff. So I'm set there. Thanks guys!

That sounds about right.

They may not be exactly the same story wise either but I feel like they're good quick intros to past series. It helped me choose what show to watch after I finished Decade and had a years worth of time to kill before the Decade/W movie came out. I reccomend it for that and if nothing else just the pure absurdity of one rider turning into a bunch of others as well as turning a bunch of other riders into comicly awesome weapons.

Here is what I recommend:
Watch the original Kamen Rider to know its roots Watch Kamen Rider Black (It is really well made) Kamen Rider Kuuga(Heisei's No.1) Kamen Rider Ryuki(the game changer) Kamen Rider Faiz Kamen Rider Kabuto(designs of the suits are just awesome) Kamen Rider Den-o(the second game changer. Written by Ryuki's writer) Kamen Rider Decade(End of the 1st decade) Kamen Rider W(Start of the next decade) |

Replace Faiz with blade, and replace Kabuto with OOO and I might agree other than DCD. Faiz and Kabuto are two of the worst written, badly handled, full of plot and character holes .. Kamen Rider series ever.

Personally when i was trying to decide where to go from watching OOO's i looked on the Kamen rider section of ranger central and just went for what looked cool, that and TVN where releasing hd subs of den-o =p
But yeah, decade is a nice intro to themes and suits, each arc is enjoyable too but as a whole its a little incomplete and.. yeah you'll see =p Beyond that i echo what everyone else has said about W. It's a nice blend of everything and is really solidly written. There's a few odd Dopant designs and thats really my only complaint. |
