Just watched Episode 0. Man, I wish this is what the entire show was like. The show improves like 300% without the comic relief characters from the Special Crimes Unit. This was much more dramatic and intense and I freaking loved it.

The reason of why they put comic relief on Kamen Rider Drive because Kamen Rider Gaim was darker Show and they want to do lighter and softer tone on Kamen Rider Drive

I agree, Drive has it's charm with the comic relief, but watching this does make me really wish they have a spin off movies with a more serious tone to it akin to the W Movies.

I think Proto-Drive is Chase for a few reasons. Chase can't kill Roidmudes, Chase needs "find out who he is", and I don't think Roidmudes can clone- they don't seem to have any control over what a Roidmude evolves into. I don't think there is any huge twist. What I think is interesting is how it happened, and how (if he discovers his past) Chase will react and do going forward.

I've been rewatching W and just got done with the Liar Dopant arc, which is legitimately hilarious. W had wacky characters. It had Akiko, who was aggressively comic relief. But W made it work because the comic relief characters still interacted with the plot and did important things outside of making jokes. On that show it was more the interplay between the characters that led to the humor, not just a couple of guys acting weird. Akiko seeing Phillip in a dress and then having a dramatically over-the-top meltdown, complete with spotlight, was funny. The chief saying "Today's lucky color is blue!" and making a funny face is not. |

Hah yea I agree with the chief thing too, them doing close up on his face is tiring now.

And if it was good comedy I'd be fine with that, but it isn't. It's just the dude waving around his dolls and the chief checking his horoscope and then gurning to the camera. That's not funny. It's almost Shunpei levels of unfunny (almost).

Personally, I'm hoping he doesn't have any recurring joke.

Okay. What about his relationship with Kiriko? That could help him to have important role in Storyline. Could his relationship With Kiriko be estranged relationship? Let find out!
What do you think of his relationship with Kiriko? Is it family drama? |
