Since User Kamen Rider Die posted some magazine shots from around 2004, I grew somewhat interested in Gransazer and the rest of the Chouseishin series.
I've started with Gransazer and it's an interesting show with the background predominately involving Giant Mecha, though its handling of Henshin Heroes is a little underwhelming and not well explained. Consider also that I haven't gotten far yet either. I did a quick search and found some older threads, but nothing really new and up-to-date. It's also worth seeing if perhaps maybe there is greater or less interest in the series now that it's had some time to age a little. Tastes can up and down. Like I said there are older threads: - Chouseishin Series: http://www.tokunation.com/showthread...ight=Gransazer - Chouseishin Series: http://www.tokunation.com/showthread...ight=Gransazer The second thread has some good shots of the Justiriser toys and comparison shots with Go-Busters Mecha. - Gransazer Discussion: http://www.tokunation.com/showthread...ight=Gransazer - Androzani84 watches Chousei Kantai Sazer-X: http://www.tokunation.com/showthread...ight=Gransazer Whatever you liked or disliked about the Trilogy, and whatever questions one has...go for it! |

I have often wanted to at least watch all of Sazer-X, not surprising given part of it's airing was in 2006 which seems to be a running theme with me!

I'd really like to see this franchise make a return, but, to be honest, I've been very lukewarm about a lot of what Toei have done for quite while now, so I'd even take a second Ryukendo or a new Tomica Hero show just to spice things up a little. |

I like the first two shows, but I remember not liking the third one.

Episodes 3 and 4 are where Gransazer starts to pick up a bit after a so-so beginning. It seems like the series is better suited for Giant Mecha Battles than anything else. The first real battle between Dolcruz and Garuda had punch, but I liked how they also showed that there is an environmental cost to their fighting. The Gransazer suits don't really interest me, but I did find the Sazer Tawlon suit mildly interesting.

Personally Sazer X was the best thanks to trial and error with the previous two shows. Gransazer while it has its moments was too cluttered when it came to the number of heroes which was kinda exhausting and story pacing was not so great overall. That said suits are awesome and Daisazer is an awesome monstrosity. Justiriser felt better managed but became fun only after Dark Knight showed up. Sazer X was the best because the pacing was better, good management of number of heroes and I loved that excluding the main 3(later 4) the other heroes were support crew who did not transform but can hold their own. The cosmo capsule easter egg hunt I think helped with simplifying the story progression and Takuto/Lio Sazer and Blaird's rivalry with each other was fun. One thing that was unfortunate however with Sazer X is the final combined mecha. While Gransazer and Justiriser had a kaiju-type ultimate giant robot, rightfully so since this is TOHO making it after all, Sazer X I believe did not last time I checked. I still love the Ryuseishins and think they are the best designs out of the three shows but yeah, sucks there was no Daisazer or Justikaiser equivalent.
