He’s finally here and I am so happy to finally have him. We haven’t had a review on him here yet, so allow me to review him for you all.
Sculpt/Paint He’s perfect. I can’t stress that enough. The figure’s sculpt is fantastic and while it isn’t as bulky as the in show suit, you can forgive it for the fact that if it was any bulkier and it probably wouldn’t have the articulation it does (though it does have one issue). The paint is fantastic as well. The blue is nice and shiny and isn’t chrome one bit, something that I’m glad about. The silver is just paint and while not as shiny as other Figuarts (it’s a bit flat) it’s still nice. Combined with some really great molded in detail and this is one gorgeous toy. It may not be a Shinkocchou Seiho but it looks like it was ripped straight from the show. Articulation Blue Beet has your standard Figuarts articulation. However it is a little different below the waist. For starters you can slide the leg out to the side some to allow for more articulation. Along with this there’s a swivel at the knee. The figure utilizes the Ryuki style feet but without the diecast. Unfortunately though, there are issues. The toy has a hard time standing up and will require a lot of fiddling with the feet to get him to stay up. Also the hip articulation isn’t that good. The sliding gimmick while helpful still doesn’t really give it a whole bunch more of movement. This is all mostly due to the design of the suit, so I can’t get too mad over it. The shoulder pads are on hinges akin to older Figuarts, so no Black Renewal or Blade styled ones here. Do be careful when moving the arms about though, as the little bands on the elbows do pop off if messed with too much. Overall the articulation is good but does have its problems. Accessories Takuya’s accessory count is low, but he comes with all the essentials. With Blue Beet you get: Fists Stinger Blade/Drill holding hands Input Magnum holding hands Relaxed/Open hands Input Magnum Stinger Blade Stinger Drill part Extra shell cover thing (not really sure what to call it) All of the accessories are painted perfectly as per the norm. The blade on the Stinger Blade can spin around and pops off to put on the Drill. With the Drill though, don’t go and try forcing it in. You have to spread open the bottom legs of it to allow it to fit on the base and then you clamp the legs down. The shell parts simply peg in and come out easily. Again this section of the toy is done beautifully and perfectly. Final Thoughts For months I have been hyped for this thing and many of my friends here will confirm that. I am happy to report that he lives up to any hype that was made about him. The sculpt and paint work is phenomenal and is simply eye-catching. The articulation, while hindered in the hips is your standard Figuarts goodness. His accessory count as I said is low, but he comes with everything he needs considering that G-Stag and Reddle will house his finally accessory outside for the standard form. S.H. Figuarts Blue Beet is simply an amazing toy and I consider him perfect. On an emotional level I love him to death and he made me get more inner childly than anything else in a long time. If you had him pre-ordered you won’t be disappointed. If you didn’t and can find him for a good price I highly suggest picking him up. I love having B-Fighters/Beetleborgs finally get the SHF treatment. Now if only we could get more Metal Heroes like Blue S.W.A.T., Winspector, and Jiraiya (and if we got Mystic Knights and Gingaman/Lost Galaxy ones my personal toku childhood would be complete).
