We've been lacking a thread on this for a while now.

It's summer homework time for the Ninningers! Their task: Infiltrate the hidden shinobi village under attack from the Kibaoni Corps! The team manages to rescue the village's lord, but discover he's not quite the man they expected him to. Can the Ninningers defeat the samurai general Juza Yumihari, bring the lord out of his depression and break the curse of the "evil dragon"?

There were a lot of things I liked about this movie. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous, the action was very reminiscent of the early episodes of the series and the villain looked great. All things considered this could have been a pretty great movie.
But then I remembered its a summer Super Sentai movie and they're very rarely great because of the ridiculous runtime. There was so much here that would have been great with a little time for expansion. The dinosaur lord was really underdeveloped, the initial infiltration of the village (the thing advertised most in the series opening credits) lasted all of 2 minutes and of course Dinomaru just sort of popped up at the end. I enjoyed it far more than I've enjoyed most episodes of the series, but it just left me wanting so much more than it actually delivered.

I thought it was a pretty good movie, but it was way too short.

DVD arrived (after accedentaly ordering the Blu-Ray and having to re-buy the correct version) and overall, the movie left a positive impression
While the could certainly have done more if they had more runtime, they did use the time pretty well overall. The story was intersting, the characters where fun to watch (Fuuka had pretty much to say this time, so yay for that!) and the action and scenery was really cool. Some things would certainly have had more impact if they had more time to explain them, but as for the entertainment factor, the movie did pretty well with a huge variety in locations and some adorable comedy. I've also watched the Making Of (which is actually longer than the movie, lol) and they really put lots of love in it. Not the best Sentai summer movie, but still one of the better ones. |

I thought it was a good movie, good plot, great setting, and the Ninningers did actual ninja stuff the entire time. When they infiltrated the castle was some of the best stuff in the film. As stated already, it would have benefited from a longer run time, but I thought it was still really enjoyable and I liked it.
