So another high school Rider? I think the first one since Gentaro (I think Kouta either dropped out or graduated and didn't go to college).
The poster looks anime-ish too. I'm reminded of Blade where you have to defeat the Kaijin to gain their cards but also the Roidmude's with the amount of them there are. At the very least it sounds like the Kaijin will be relevant to the plot, even if it's mostly for forms, which is always a plus for me. I wonder how much screentime they'll give the bike. Also from what I've heard, Hasegawa is finally the head writer? Last edited by Frontier; 07-20-2023 at 04:58 PM.. |

Very curious about this... The plot sounds neat, it's very Card Captor Sakura which is what I suggested they might do at one point, so that's cool
I've always been mixed on Hasegawa... he's written things I've enjoyed but also stuff I really haven't... Same for Hiroki Uchida to be honest. Hasegawa has a lot of potential to do great, but tbh he kinds skeezes me out at times so him writing a show about high schoolers makes me kind of anxious Also I'd like to take a moment to be petty and remind everyone that Iron Heng IS NOT A RELIABLE LEAKER |

An incident occurred in which 101 "artificial lifeforms (monsters) chemies" created by collecting the best alchemist techniques were released from the "Ride Chemie Cards" that had been stored. Takataro is entrusted with Kamen Rider Gutchard's transformation belt "Gatcher Driver" and is given a mission to collect Chemie.

Slightly more detailed plot translation
Quote:
"Alchemy" is the art of attempting to create "gold" through different combinations. One of the mystical pursuits within this research includes the attempt to artificially create "organisms" or "life." In this work, the story unfolds in a modern setting where such experiments have secretly succeeded.
At the heart of the story of "Kamen Rider Gotchard" lies the key, the "Artificial Lifeform (Monster) Chemi," created by gathering the best alchemical technologies. Chemi are a lifeform designed to imitate various entities in this world, such as grasshoppers and steam locomotives, with a total of 101 of them. These Chemi were stored within cards called "Ride Chemi Cards." However, unexpectedly, they escape their confinement and are unleashed all at once. By chance, the protagonist, high school student Houtarou Ichinose, gets involved in this incident. He is entrusted with the transformation belt of Kamen Rider Gotchard, the "Gotchard Driver," and assigned the mission to retrieve the unleashed Chemi. When a Chemi's heart resonates with goodness, they become reliable allies for humans. As proof of this, Houtarou can transform into Kamen Rider Gotchard by loading a Ride Chemi Card into the Gotchard Driver, thereby fusing with the Chemi. On the other hand, when a Chemi combines with human malice, it gives birth to the "Kaijin Margam," posing a danger of being a creature of evil. Chemi embodies the duality of good and evil, two sides of the same coin. Houtarou's catchphrase is "Gotcha!" This is an English slang that means "Gotcha!" or "Caught ya!" Can Houtarou really "Gotcha" all 101 Chemi? In September, the curtains will rise on a never-before-seen legend of Kamen Rider!" Last edited by TheJaz; 07-20-2023 at 05:47 PM.. |

I, for one, am thrilled Hasegawa has finally been given head writing duties on a Rider. I absolutely adore Ultraman Nexus and SSSS.Gridman, and he was able to give Saber a satisfying conclusion. He has his fair share of misses, but he is one of the more consistent toku writers out there. Very interested to see how he does with more control over the narrative arc.

OMG. It's literally Kamen Rider Cardcaptor. While I absolutely adore the fact that they're making each power-up more significant by making them monsters and tying them with the villain of the week like Blade/Double, I'm wondering if 101 cards is a little too excessive? Blade had like 50 of them, and we didn't even get to see most of them as monsters.
