I'll probably have to wait until after it comes out to pick up Infinity Style, thanks to the shift in how the Pay Later option is handled at NY (I have Hulkbuster on tap already). Same with with Birth Prototype later this year. At least SICs don't tend to jump up a ton on the aftermarket (the last one is probably OOO Gatakiriba), so I'm not too worried about having to pay more than I'd prefer for them. That also reminds me that Birth's out this month. |

So I found a SIC collection book on Mandarake that I plan on purchasing soon. Out of curiosity I Googled it to see if I could find some scans, and I did. Most curiously though was a scan from the book of some artist sketches. One of which includes Akaranger.
To my knowledge it never got released and I like many others have wanted to see some SIC versions of Sentai. Well, at least we can say it almost happened.

I'd originally paid no attention to SIC because I don't care for the stylized aesthetic, and I'm pretty committed to Figuarts. However, yesterday, my friend surprised me with the 3 3/4" Den-Liner set. I may've squee'd hard enough to shatter glass.
I kinda had trouble believing the set was SIC (despite the clear labels on the package) because the Imagin were more or less on-model. The size is perfect for my needs, since I don't have a ton of display space. I've been doing a little research, and it looks like a Momotaros for this scale was released? I was fairly pleased that the set comes with accessories for him. It also looks like there was a Naomi and Kohana set released, but they're statues at a much larger scale? There weren't any human figures released at this scale, were there? The set is clearly aching for an Owner, Deneb, Hana, Ryutaro, and Naomi. I also found it interesting that connection points are left open on the right of the set, giving Bandai the option of releasing a follow-up set that could be attached. Given that it looks like this set came out in 2011, it sounds highly unlikely, but still! The Imagin can have coffee! They can play with crayons! They can harass one another! Kuma can snooze at dramatic moments! The set comes with what look like tiny carafes, or maybe colored foam dispensers? My friend also got me a "gag gift" of the Dapol Mel from Doctor Who, but the joke's on him: she's now filling in for Naomi behind the counter, since she's right in-scale. Seems pretty cheerful about it. Is this set just uniquely delightful, or did they do anything else in this scale that's this... un-stylized? <3 |

That scale (roughly four-ish inches) is untapped in Toku besides SIC KT. There's motion revive (why did that line end? T_T) but they're a lot simpler and a bit smaller.
