I'm a board noob, so I thought this might be a good place to say hi.
Hi! I started out watching Kamen Rider with W, and loved it to death. I sucked my wife and daughters in, too, and we progressed through OOO and Fourze (which is still the kids' favorite). We just finished Gaim and have gotten about 12 episodes into Drive. I'm simultaneously trying to work my way through the older Heisei stuff; I really enjoyed Kuuga and Agito, but Ryuki and Faiz didn't do much for me, and I wound up abandoning them part way through. I suppose, then, that I'm about to start Blade. Anybody have any advice? Is it going to be a slog, or am I in for a treat there? Be aware that Blade starts out confusing. The first episode ends with Blade yelling at another Rider, Garren, asking him "WHY HAVE YOU BETRAYED US?" (Tachi and, the man behind the Garren helmet, was seen smiling as he stood in front of a bunch of hatching coccoons) as moths devour the headquarters of the organization who created Blade and Garren's Rider Systems. And in the next episode, most of that craziness gets tossed to the side and we meet the supporting cast, including an audience surrogate who people think is a total brat. |

Yeah I began watching Kuuga around the time shit started to hit the fan over there. As always Tamashii dictated what I should watch with their figure announcements, but in this case I was really glad they did, I love Kuuga. Kinda sad I'm almost through, but at least I have something to watch forward to with Agito.
Yeah Kuuga is a great and I am sure you will enjoy through Agito but be warned through Agito you will have to endure the douchebaggery of one of the biggest assholes of Kamen rider, Toru Hojo.

To be honest, I do exactly the same deciding my shows at the moment Once I finish off V3 I'll be hitting up Kuuga in time for the renewal.

Also, the supporting cast already makes an appearance in episode one. Koutaro is actually one of the first characters on screen, Shiori appears in the board headquarters and Amane (which I assume you mean by audience surrogate) and her mum appear when Hajime is introduced. The only important character that isn't introduced is Mutsuki, who doesn't appear until Isaka creates the Leangle belt. Errr anyway, I wouldn't say Blade is that crazy and messy, though it is rather confusing when you watch the first few episodes for the first time. Basically because you get lots and lots of events that do not really make sense at that point, but you'll gradually understand them the more you watch because what happens is actually explained throughout the show. I highly recommend to watch the episodes without very long breaks because you might forget some important details otherwise. Admitted, when I watched the show for a second and third time, I even noticed some details I didn't or couldn't notice the first time. |

Same here. And Fourze is likely next.

Thanks for all the nice welcomes. I made it through Wizard (did I say that already?) and could handle Shunpei; I feel like I'm prepared for anything they can throw at me. Fourze's a lot of fun, but I think I was predisposed to like it because it's basically a live action school anime. |
