You're right on one aspect, Shinn did have something going for him until Kira took over. I do remember liking Shinn initially, but as the series moved on and Kira took over he became irrelevant and worthless to me. Of course, Destiny is just a mess of a show to begin with. Everything is just ripping off previous Gundam series, but for some reason they felt the need to throw in a clip show ever 5 episodes. Hell, episode 47 is a freaking clip show and the finale is episode 50. Maybe they should have actually spent that time actually make a legitimate episode then they wouldn't have had to redo the final episode as a 45 minute OVA. Add in that there was no mystery to who Not-Zechs was given that the voice actor (Takehito Koyasu, who also did Zechs in Wing) did Mu La Flaga in SEED, and you have one of the most predictable let downs ever. Everyone was acting like it was a big deal and I was just like, "This was obvious from the start."

So I got the new Nintendo App Miitomo, and I've been using the photo function and Gundam pictures to create some... interesting results.

My g/f and I watched the first 5 episodes to 00 and man, this show is already awesome. So far the sniper gundam (I think Dynamis) is my favorite of the show, but I think Allejulah is my favorite of the pilots, at least right now. It's pretty interesting thus and seems to be doing a nice job of building things up. However, I need to know, is this supposed to be a prequel series? They're using the AD timeline and they talked about how there will one day be space colonies built. Just curious if it is meant to be one or that was just an easter egg.
Oh, I'm watching it dubbed and its great. My only complaint is that Scott McNeil is to this show what Steve Blum is to Star Wars Rebels. |

Especially considering before Universal Century, they didn't have mobile suits. To me, what's interesting about the 00 universe is that there are a few space colonies, but they are just sort of there and are not really prevalent in the story. There's probably only a few because the space elevators just got built, and investment in space colonies hasn't taken off yet. You actually get to see a space colony in season 1, and the 00 movie has the construction of new colonies being started. I have only see 00 dubbed, lol. Never in Japanese. Still waiting on those Blu-rays... Last edited by Powerman293; 04-02-2016 at 01:28 AM.. |

I always wanted to ask this. Can someone please explain what the various grades mean in terms of how hard the model is put together, what's involved, how detailed the models are, and the quality? Because I have absolutely no earthly idea other than the 1/144 scale GW sets usually suck.

Glad you love the show so far. It's my favorite Gundam series. The season 1 gundams are not my favorite designs, but they have slowly grown on me.

Still waiting on those Blu-rays... As for the timeline thing, interesting, as there is a lot that can attribute to it being a prequel. First, the GN particles the Gundams emit seem like the precursor to the Minovsky Particles in the UC stuff. As for the mobile suits thing, I don't recall them ever saying they never existed before. Plus, how would they build space colonies without mobile suits? There is also the possibility that they stopped producing them when peace came to pass as everyone was focusing on space colonies. You're most likely right, but it seems like this could easily be placed in any of the time lines if they so choose. Kind of like how Tomino decided to put G-Turn A and Recon G all in the UC universe. HG - High Grade (1/144 scale), Most often your typical figuarts sized toy and fairly easily to build with out any experience needed prior. HG also contains no inner frame, like a skeleton of sorts. The inside the kits are most often hollow. On top of that some times HG kits has you using decals/stickers on the kit to provide the major paint details the actual mobile suit has in the show MG - Master Grade(1/100), a big step up above from HG kits, if you think your ready for a lengthy build then go for it. Master Grade kits are more gimmicky and adds tons of more feature, such as cock pit which opens and closes, weapons tend to have more functionality to it, a inner frame which the armor goes on top of, and stickers and decals are rarely used since the pieces when put together usually brings out the most details, also they might even add LED. Their height are a bit taller, but their size is what usually trumps the HG kits. PG - Perfect Grade(1/40), the grand daddy of all. The Perfect Grade is everything you wanted, as if you took the mobile suit from the show and place it on your shelf, PG does everything what a MG can but takes it and just goes 10x a step above, I believe most if not all PG contains LED lights all the time. PG While not super hard, due to the larger pieces, you have to have a lot of patience and time which makes these scaled kits time consuming. Their height and size trumps all. RG - Real Grade (1/144), another 1/144 scaled kit, it is essentially a PG kit that's been shrunken down to 1/144 scale, these kits can bit a time consuming due to the amount of small pieces that goes into them. There is also other grades sizes and scales, such as the mega size, SD(super deformed), and non grades. Right below I provided pics showing a more compact explanation of what I said above, also shows difficulty and other tid bits.

And that is why I don't have the patience for model kits. Too many small pieces, stickers or having to rely on my terrible painting skills, and too many hours of attention require.
I had those Wing model kits TRU sold and after putting a bunch of them together I was like, "**** IT!! I'm buying the action figures!!" And that is what I did. |

Does the show have clip shows and if so, do you know what episodes they are? Just want to know so I know what episodes to skip.
As for the timeline thing, interesting, as there is a lot that can attribute to it being a prequel. It's shown in Gundam the Origin of how mobile suits came to be. In the Universal Century, before mobile suits, they had mobile workers to build the space colonies. These mobile workers were eventually developed and modified by Zeon to become the first mobile suits we see in Gundam The Origin and 0079. I don't see how something as revolutionary to combat as the mobile suit (see: The Battle of Loum or One Week battle, mobile suits wiped the floor with federation ships.) being forgotten about. Alos, there's something at the end of the 00 movie that defintley could not make it a prequel to any other shows. I won't spoil it, but I don't think this thing could be forgotten about/hidden away down the road. |
