Engineering impossibility for that form looking at the sculpt. Whereas the other form has them as you can see with the knees. The boot arms aren't possible without breaking the show accurate detail of the sculpt.
And likely the one in show if that form is used won't have them either. It's basically gundam lower legs attached to shoulders. Unless you want a visible hinge in the middle of the calf, it's not design possible to put an elbow there and keep it detail accurate. Last edited by Librarian; 10-16-2018 at 04:04 PM.. |

Apparently there's also a figma in the works now too?
Weird. Although I must say the DX one looks better, and assuming the size of this prototype is final it might be just as expensive. Without the assist vehicles of course. |

It sort of looks like it's gonna be some kind of larger scale figure that focuses just on Gridman himself. I'm guessing it ditches the combination gimmick entirely and focuses more on just him as an action figure. Which is interesting, though not of interest personally. I'll take the DX transforming set myself.

What baffles me is how the DX one looks more accurate to the source material - even though the source material is animation in this case. The figma looks weirdly stylized’ like it’s based on concept art or something.
But yeah, I’d take the DX release myself too. The figure itself looks better in that set and you get more for your money with the combining gimmick. More articulation seems to be the only thing the figma has going for it, although we might have to wait until it is actually finished and ready for pre-orders to judge better. |

It's like an Obari style Gridman.
I don't know if I like Anime Gridman's design enough to buy any of these figures of him. Especially at the prices they're asking for them. |

Looks like the reason they didn't show all the functionality of the DX Gridman was to slowly reveal it each week a new form or combination is debuted. Here's Max Gridman.
