To be fair, that'd develop Stinger more and something people were worried about is having 9+ members with some getting good screentime and others barely getting any

You know it seems like half your problem here is that you just really hate a lot of the underlying tropes at play here, in which case, I can't argue.
I hear the narrator talk about these legendary magic balls that give people the power to save the universe from evil and I'm like "Awesome!". I see a giant robot fight in the last three minutes and I'm like "Yup, that's Sentai for ya'!". I see the show explicitly about 9 dudes assemble all nine dudes early on and I'm like "Yay, this is what I signed up for!". Nothing about any of that bothers me. If you wish the show was fundamentally written a different way, that's fine. I totally agree there's a lot of good narrative potential in your suggestions (I'd love to see an evil Kyuranger), but I'm totally alright with what the show is doing instead. If you aren't, then I hope you have fun with whatever you spend the extra 22 minutes a week doing if you decide to drop the show. Although if you're tired of repetitive mecha action, there's this little show called Go-Busters...

Something that's begging to be explained is the Kyutama themselves. Lucky's and Raptor's just materialized out of nowhere, while Balance and Naga's were part of some rock.
Meanwhile Xiao has a whole fucking bag of them. There are a lot of questions that are raised. What if a character received a Kyutama, but it's just a weapon? Does that mean they're special, but not special enough to actually be a Kyuranger? Are weapon Kyutama only given to Kyurangers (With how Xiao acts, I'm 100% certain he already has his personal Kyutama, hence his literal pile of weapon Kyutama, and just chooses not to act right now)? If Kyutama can only be used through their special gear, what is the point of them? Assuming their some sort of legendary trinket, why isn't the power accessible as soon as their chosen user gets them? The more I think about this series, the more questions are raised. And no, I'm not being cynical. I'm 100% positive at least the first and last of my questions won't be addressed in the series. Anyway, I'd say this episode is worth watching simply because it finally gives you the payoff 5 weeks in the making of having the full team of 9 assembled. ...Then again, I'm the type of freak that gets more hyped up for the role call rather than the fight scene itself, so take that for what it's worth

-Lucky and Garu's introductions could've been split, giving them (Garu especially), more time to really cement their character beyond basic traits. -Hammy wouldn't be left so basic and bland as the series rushes to explain everything. -Champ's backstory with his doctor could've been set up a little earlier. It could've established Stinger before his proper debut as well. It would give them a little history and the audience would get to know more about Champ. -Spada would be able to do stuff. So far, the only characters that have really gotten a chance to spread their wings and develop over the course of these 5 episodes were Lucky and Raptor (Of all characters). Everyone else had their limelight episode (Sans Hammy) where we got a little on their history (Or, in Spada's case, his protective tendencies with Raptor), and then they become a set piece. I know I'm judging things over 5 episodes, but things would've been so smoother and better paced if they held off on 4 of the rangers' introductions.

Hold it. Why is everyone harping on me for asking that question? I was simply asking his opinion/reference on it. I wasn't trying to challenge it or anything..

When scans of the promotional catalogues hit the scene I thought we would get two teams - one with 5 and one with 4 members and they would be featured equally, or rather the 5 team would be our main focus and the 4 team would drop in every now and then. Or maybe the 4 team would actually work for Jark Matter? That could’ve been fun. I'm just bored that the nine members don’t matter since they're now a team anyways and will get additional new Rangers just like every other show. I wish they would make something special with their large number of players. Quote:
Sadly Kyuranger seems too mediocre at the moment for me to give a damn. Last edited by Kiwami; 03-13-2017 at 02:46 PM.. |

Kind of, but I mean they can have episodes with the others too, but I just don't want a whole team of nine so early and without major complications.

Case in point: Zyuohger. Sadly Kyuranger seems too mediocre at the moment for me to give a damn. AHA!!!! You admit that it's currently at this time. Which means that it could get your attention better down the road.

I like "Special" role calls. Shit like the double roll calls in Vs movies, or extended roll calls from the large teams like Kyoryuger or Magiranger. I didn't mean it as if I'm chomping at the bit from the episode to episode role call My bad

No thanks, I don't eat internet cookies. I delete them.
Down the road is five more episodes, that's the ultimatum. And every time that red buffoon screams "Yosha Lucky" chances of me sticking around even one episode longer are diminishing significantly. |
