So much of the series is based around cliches that it shows their true creativity by working around those cliches and using them to their advantage. Putting a unique twist on a tired concept. It doesn't change the concept as a whole, but it makes it interesting. I would like to see another season with humans versus humans, good technology versus evil technology. And it wouldn't hurt for it to take place in space and for the actress that played Miku in Megaranger to be the mentor. Just sayin....lol |

But that doesn't warrant bringing up the point that "X is cliche."
It's basically going back on what you said in the same sentence. "Mutants are cliche, but then again..."

Mutants and aliens are cliche though. Any super hero movie the protagonist fights either a evil genius and his/her creations, mutant, or an alien. That is fine; there is nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't make it any less cliche. That is how the genre is and sentai's identity is being able to give us a new spin on these cliches. It's one of the most enduring aspects of the show, IMO.
