Saw the Grand Budapest Hotel yesterday and it...wasn't quite was I expected it to be? I hadn't looked up the plot beforehand and judging simply from the trailers I expected it to be very different to what it was, but it was still a good film - if somewhat flawed.
The cast were excellent (Ralph Fiennes especially) and the visuals of a typical Wes Anderson standard, but the narrative was a bit all over the place. Couple that with one of the most abrupt endings I've ever seen and it was a film that, despite enjoying, I don't know if I'd watch again.

I watched the LEGO Movie last week, and I loved it. It was amazing to me, in a very similar way that Toy Store is.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have been going on a Star Wars marathon this week. Today I am watching Star Wars: The Clone Wars (the movie and Season 6 of the TV Series)

Went to a Muppets Most Wanted preview screening (its not out for another week here in the UK) in London yesterday. Absolutely loved it - it doesn't have the same level of heart and nostalgia as the last Muppets movie, but it feels much more like a standard Muppet film.
Ricky Gervais was great in it, and in all honesty I can't stand the guy. So many brilliant cameos too.

gotta say that the gamera movies of the 90's are cool. watched the first one last night, and watched the second one tonight. going to watch the third and final one tomorrow. think I might pick up some of the older ones down the road. watching them makes me wish there was a gamera monster art or something similar.
march 28 edit-saw the third movie in the 90's Gamera trilogy today after a delay of a couple days. it was a great way to end it all I think. loved the final monster fight in it. than saying that he will always fight, till the end, even if it means death. I would love to see more gamera movies get made. its a shame they didn't show the incoming fight, but its understandable.

Finally saw Desolation of Smaug. If I hadn't known that Legolas shouldn't have been there and that they made up Tauriel... I would have enjoyed every bit of it. But barring those parts, it was fantastic.

Muppets Most Wanted
If you're a really big Muppets fan, you'll get a kick out of this. Good jokes, funny plots and some emotional moments. Walter incorporates himself into the secondary characters really well and the overall parody style of the moments come into good play here. Though, if you're any sort of European, prepare to get potentially offended. |
