So, the results are now in, how'd you feel?
Personally I'm so glad Matthew McConaughey got an award for Leading Actor, I haven't even seen Dallas Buyers Club but he definitely deserved recognition for his talents all the same. I'm really disappointed that Nebraska won no recognition at all, and Her only one a single award as to me they were two of the best films up for consideration this year. Biggest disappointment though was 12 Years winning Best Picture, we all knew it would happen, but just one year I'd love for the Oscars to pick a film on the merits of it as a film and not just on which film baits the most from their audience. Just because your topic is important, doesn't mean your film is good, but it seems most people were utterly clouded by the topic.

I enjoyed the Oscars, but I've long come to not take the Oscars too seriously. I'll readily admit I've not watched a single one of any of the "big players" (not even Gravity) so I really can't comment on the choices.
It was a fun watch to spend the time, I guess.

Was really surprised by how much Gravity cleaned up, especially in beating Scorsese, Scorsese deserved Best Director.

I'm very disappointed with the winners this year. American Hustle should have won for best movie as it was the best of 2013. Leo should have won best actor, Lawrence for best supporting actress, and Adams for best actress. Also, The Hobbit should have won for effects when Smaug was the most amazing looking thing on screen all year last year. At least Frozen and Let it Go won their respective awards. Nevertheless, both Hustle and Wolf being snubbed just goes to show how out of touch these awards really are. It is 2010 all over again.
As for 12 Years, winning, I did not expect it to win. Django Unchained did not win last year and it covers the exact same thing but in a creative way. |
