This explains so much of the Alien Ranger footage where they just fyck around with the monster. I might watch Kakuranger next alongside Carranger when i watch Sentai again.

I really have no idea, like, at all. I guess Toei doesn't think a serious Ninja sentai would work?

But do check out Kakuranger. I loved it, despite only getting 12 episodes in before having to stop at the time (I think it's currently subbed up to the mid-40's).

Jetman 18, Gai Dies!
I actually liked this episode, which made the ending rather tragic. But I guess it makes Radiguet all the more despicable. I feel the major flaw of this episode was the breakneck pace it moved at. Human Radiguet coming to and befriending/falling in love with someone, healing her illness, Gai breaking his cold exterior and expressing his fears, Vyram deciding to help off Juza, Radiguet regaining his memories and returning to his normal self, Juza's death, and Semimaru hatching. All in 17 minutes. This really should have been a 2 parter (Rather, a 3 parter, I guess, since it directly followed last episode). It would've made Radiguet's connection with the girl a lot stronger, Gai's "Death" have more impact, the rest of Vyram turning against Juza be more interesting, and the ending be fore dramatic. However, that said, it was still a nice episode. |

Yeah. It's only episode 18, and the actual title is "Gai Dies!"
It sounds like a major plot centered episode, but the Juza character was only in 1 episode prior and of all the things I explained, only one was actually relevant to the plot. The rest are all gone with the wind by episode 19.

Timing. KakuRanger came directly after the super serious DaiRanger, so they started Kaku out on a more light hearted comedic note before going DaiRanger with it in the second arc.
Think of it as like Zeta Gundam and Gundam ZZ only without them being connected stories. Hurricange was comedic just because that was at the time when Toei started to dumb down Sentai. |

Gokaiger 48. What was with that ridiculously overdressed church set? So fucking corny.
Minus laughing at the sheer thickness of the makeup on Marvelous, this episode was pretty enjoyable. We've never gotten to see much of the Galleon despite it being big enough apparently to house four vehicles which have never once been explained. So it was nice to see more areas of the ship, even if they were utterly unconvincing. Also fun - although something that raises a lot of questions too - was seeing the Gokaiger fight themselves. I dunno how the Gokaiger won, but yeah... Plus Basco has single-handedly achieved more than the whole Zangyack Empire - which speaks volumes about them - but I just think he's great. The showdown with Marvelous was also epic. Although if Basco has green blood his lips and skin wouldn't look like they do.
