I still have my Toon aligator card that a friend i had in second grade gave to me about 10 years ago, it's all bended and scratched but it has some good memories.

I don't play anymore just because I lost interest, I stopped collecting cards a long time ago and quit dueling network because the meta is so frustrating to my main deck.
Along with what Matrix Beast said, I think what makes the yugioh meta so annoying is the power creep that is happening all the time. If you don't get the newest archetype or a card that speeds up an old one, then you're fucker meta wise. I mainly play Jurracs, and I could special summon a decent amount of XYZs and Synchros. So when I played against Dragon Rulers, that mother fucker was overlaying rank 8 monsters like nothing(Mind you, I had the rank 4 Evolzars in my extra deck and rely on them a lot). Even against Heratics, a slightly older archetype, I was still struggling to compete due to the amount of shit those cards are allowed to do. |

I didn't honestly know Yugioh was even really a thing, I mean I knew the anime was still going and stuff but I didn't realise there was still a strong professional circuit and that the game was still evolving.
In my life Yugioh, Beyblade, B-Daman and all of those sorts of things were all just fun gimmicky distractions before the next Pokémon game came out. Stuff like B-Daman barely even lasted a single term of school.

Fun with friends, but eyerolling and dull when you play against someone who's taking things way too seriously.

Yugioh exploded in popularity. Helped that people weren't injuring themselves on them like Beyblades, and that Pokemon had handled the "DEVIL CREATURES!" BS a decade earlier so most schools weren't as on high alert towards the cards.

See, I don't mind playing YGO so long as I can do so digitally.
All I want to do is dick around with the different decks I can make but I don't want to go through the trouble of actually having to buy cards, because CCGs can get pretty costly, far more than toy buying. |

I only play online because my younger brother is obsessed with it and, since we live in different houses, we can still play without one of us trekking around
