I don't get Parad's change of attitude. Previous episode, he killed Revol like nothing and now he is disturbed that Genm killed Burgmon.
Was it because Burgmon was not a stupid npc like Revol and he actually cares about his fellow Bugsters when he is not fired up? All that aside, he does seem unhappy with Dan now...not smiling anymore. His personality is really like a paradox. On another note...the soundtrack for Ex-Aid keeps on impressing me. I thought this was just a filler but the ending of the episode left me satisfied. Like he said, Burgmon's death served no real purpose. Revol was at least absorbed, and he was being a punk for hitting Parad.

Episode thoughts:
All in all, good episode but honestly Ex-Aid is currently in this weird state where I consider it good but I'm not really interested in it. I don't know, maybe I'm burnt out of Kamen Rider, maybe everyone's praise of it is dulling my perception, but despite hitting most of the notes of what I consider a good show, I'm not really ecstatic to see the next episode. |

Definite step up from last episode. Kinda crazy, Ex-Aid doing another tonal whiplash episode - though I was kind of expecting it this time.
My thoughts: 1. Nice to see Emu doing something outside the CR, if even only for a minute. If I have any complaint about Ex-Aid, it's how compact it feels; most of the outdoor scenes are stages and most action is in the hospital or around it. Last episode when Hiiro and the Director were talking in front of the picture window and you could see the "real world" outside (some trees, a parked car) - it felt more "grounded". Ex-Aid is so bizarre and otherworldly, scenes like that go a long way for me. 2. I don't really care but, Niko is clearly there to give Taiga / Snipe a reason to open his mouth. Her arc is over already, it seems and, like Taiga, doesn't have any real reason to be around. 3. Snipe was brutal with the Burgmon beat down! 4. I loved the Burgmon bit with the "spilling your ketchup - I mean, blood!" 5. Pallad is all about the game. The point of Revol is to defeat him by blowing him up (and he didn't actually die, he was absorbed into Genm's Bugvisor, whining all the way). Defeating Burgmon was to make him a badass burger and make him smile. He was defeated once Ex-Aid finished that task. What Dan did was outside the rules of the game and pretty much pointless murder. Pallad has shown again and again that he's into fair play and continuing the game; killing everyone would end all that pretty fast. So, for Pallad, Kurota is now a threat to his entire reason for existing. I doubt this means he'll be a straight good guy, I think this just means he's a wild card anti-hero. 6. Love Perfect Puzzle's design with the "smart guy" glasses and devillock. This show is crazy!

Why does it look like he is getting off in that picture? Does transforming into Zombie Gamer giving pleasure? Or is this all part of him getting a god complex?

I think I will have to abstain from voting in the poll this week because there is no "I don't know how I feel!" option. This episode authentically made me question if I was actually awake. I thought it was nice to have a bit of a breather episode, and it even moved the plot forward a bit too. Taiga and Niko amuse me, Dan and Parad's relationship continues to deteriorate, and the whole thing was just amazingly cracktastic and surprisingly savage (again).
Did anyone else see the ad for the new Super Hero Taisen at the end? Looks like Kiriya is coming back. I'm sure that decision wasn't influenced by the fans flipping out at alllll.

Parad mad at Dan for pointlessly murdering a Bugster. It seems that Pallad is all for fair play. And yet, Kuroto Dan stands out as the villain precisely because he's so gloriously evil. Make a bootleg game? Screw you and the horse you rode on, I am going to kill your surrogate son in retaliation. In essence, he's the complete opposite of Alain/Necrom's brother, Adel. And I love him for it.

I'm sorta beginning to wonder if they didn't develop him into such a likeable character and kill him so early on purpose, to make him super marketable for the movie. The Ex-Aid writers seem a little more aware of the fandom than most.

Man, this episode was fantastic.
Everything to the low-key reaction shots, the fights, and that pre-Decade sounding insert song was top notch. It might actually be one of my favorite episodes so far. |
