It really doesn't. -men would kinda work, but something like Jetman as a name for an entire team doesn't work.

It's actually interchangeable. Just like a single member of the X-Men is called an X-Man, they can be called Jetmen plurally.

I dunno, I can't think of an instance where they use "men" over "man" in the actual fiction. Granted I'm going off subs, but even in that case it'd make sense to change it if that was the case.
