Though the PR Samurai characters are carbon copies of the Shinkenger characters, there are differences (aside from the PR Samurai cast looking at the cue cards, hoping no one will notice):
Takeru Shiba vs. Jayden - Takeru struggles to be a samurai lord in the first few episodes of Shinkenger, and he seems cold at first (like in episode 2, where Kotoha-chan uses herself as a shield to protect him, and the others think of him as cruel until they realize he was protecting a little girl from the Gedoushuu), but he progressively shapes up to be a great Super Sentai leader. Jayden, on the other hand, looks bored and out of place. Ryunosuke Ikenami vs. Kevin - Ryunosuke is a former kabuki actor who is always a suck-up to Takeru. His kabuki skills have come to play in the series, especially in the bride-napping episode. Kevin is a former Olympic swimmer; therefore killing the punch line of the bride-napping episode. Also, he's trying too hard to be a suck-up. Mako Shiraishi vs. Mia - I haven't seen enough episodes of PR Samurai (and I don't plan to, either) to fully judge Mia, but it seems that there's less emphasis on her being a former kindergarten teacher compared to Mako-chan. Chiaki Tani vs. Mike - Chiaki is the rebel who usually doesn't give a crap about orders and attempts to do things his way, which always has him yelled at by Hikoma. And that's what we love about him. Mike, on the other hand, just has low self-esteem and has no conflict with any of his teammates, resulting in a very boring character. Kotoha Hanaori vs. Emily - Kotoha-chan is a very cute and bubbly person. Emily is just too "blonde" (as in airheaded). Genta Umemori vs. Antonio - Genta is a sushi chef with dreams of earning a three-star rating from the Michelin Guide. His annoying demeanor brings a lot of comic relief to the show. Antonio, on the other hand, is just a fish vendor with no further ambition than that. Also, his acting is horrible. Hikoma Kusakabe vs. Mentor Ji - As Takeru's retainer, Hikoma has the responsibility of organizing the Shinkengers' lifestyle and tactics, as well as maintaining the payroll of the kuroko and the Shiba House's budget. Because of this, he is seen as a father figure to the Shinkengers. Mentor Ji, on the other hand, just stands there and sometimes says a few proverbs to the Rangers. That's about it. Anyone care to fill in on the differences between Juzo Fuwa and Deker?

Obviously for marketing reasons. You can't have Power Rangers without Zords. Calling them Origami would simply alienate Saban's investors who have gotten used to the mecha being called Zords.

I was curious on what grounds you all judge the acting ability of the sentai cast
After over a week without an answer I can only assume there are no grounds to judge sentai acting as superior unless one were to speak very fluent Japanese Last edited by decepticusprime; 02-18-2012 at 02:32 PM.. |
