Since Magia Monster designs have same basic suits, maybe Toei are planned to make a lot of Magia Monsters until episode 40s. Last edited by Blade Fang; 09-15-2019 at 12:18 AM.. |

I know lot of people like them, especially W, which funny enough is my least favorite KR show, but I feel like when you have 10+ recurring character already, you can refrain making episodes centered around your neighbor great uncle or your street convenience store owner that won't really tell anything about the main story or characters. That's exactly how you end up with KR shows with characters like Time Jackers in Zi-O, which are still at 1% development by episode 45 If you really want to do something along these lines, you can still do it with the main characters more included like Sentai do sometimes, like making it related to some character's past or anything (I can't believe I want KR to take things from Sentai now ^^"). It would at least tell us more about their background, even if silly. |

It's only subjective and personal feelings, but that's why the 3 show you mentioned are ranked quite low in my KR rankings.

I want to see a series that is just as entertaining in the short term as in the long term, W, OOO and Fourze all nail that and ZI-O in my opinion as well. I just really hope the Magia are not as forgettable and lame as they appear now, but that was a problem Ex-Aid had as well. |

Double, OOO, and Drive had great villains though.

I'm inclined to cut the show some slack in its use of "victim of the week" structure so far. We're still very early into the show's run and a lot of plot and character elements are being introduced in each episode. This week we got both a new Rider and a new form for Aruto, so I can forgive the show if it wants to use more episodic threats as it works to build up the initial status quo. And even then, we still got some stuff with Yua hacking Sushibot and reporting her findings to some mysterious dude (which, as a pleasant side note, implies that Aruto won't be keeping his identity secret for too long).
I liked the episode itself, even if the story with the grumpy old chef wasn't especially original. We got some development on how HumaGears can be at least partially recreated, which is nice, but the show still sells the idea that they aren't exactly the same character who got militarized. Speaking of, I'm curious to see if there's anything more to the fact that the infection tentacles appeared to completely ignore Izu. As for the action, Yua's debut was cool and I liked the first use of Fang. I didn't get too deep into the pre-show announcements and previews, so I was pleasantly surprised with how the alternate forms just shift away the Hopper armor. It's a bit reminiscent of Den-O and I like it a lot. Izu had some great moments this week. I liked the bit with her preemptively doing the joke for Aruto and seeing her hopping up and down in the background to see the sushi video was freaking adorable. |

So many subtle hints on the nature of Humagears:
1. They have unlimited capability to learn. This is very advanced rank of AI development 2. The one picked to be Magia is the one who feels satisfactions toward his work serving humanity. The ones who smile. 3. The humagears have cloud repositories of their personalities data stored, so they can be remade. I wonder if the muscle-joke Humagear is remade or not. 4. The Singularity was perhaps a Skynet but made from combinations of data of various AIs rebelled against human slavery. They chose the awakened Humagears and corrupt their data precisely because of this. They corrup the hearts of the humagears. |

Maybe Zero-One will be similar to Ex-Aid. They do all the introductions in the beginning (new riders and forms) and then start to the main problem later.

Interesting that The progress keys themselves seem to be linked to the disaster as now it seems possible that both the wolf and cheetah keys and perhaps the drivers were recovered or built using materials recovered from the disaster site.

Another really good episode. Sushi Owner side plot was great, nothing too original but still tugged on the ol' heartstrings. I loved that we got to see more of Yua's personality and how she treats Humagear's as tools that humans can use for their betterment. She is very neutral compared to Fuwa and Aruto and it'll make a great dynamic going forward.
Izu is cute as hell (the joke at the end was so good), the fight scenes remain incredible and the CG actually looks pretty good. Valkyrie's henshin was cool, her debut fight was dynamic and I loved the emphasis on speed and the finisher was amazing. Just glad to have a primary female Rider for once. Biting Shark looks great and it's super creative how the armour bits from Rising Hopper reconfigure differently for each form. The finisher was great too. Only gripe about this episode was I don't entirely buy the fact that Sushi Owner would buy the Humagear after seeing it turn into a death-robot but I guess he really was touched by Nigiro. Interesting reveal at the end. If that guy really is Thouser, that's hella early for the character to be making an appearance, but that makes things feel a lot more coherent in the long run. Also that opening sequence, man. So good. The visuals go with the music nicely and we have a healthy dose of foreshadowing. Really interested by Izu's appearance as well as the scene at the end in the ruins of the city. I am so excited to see where this show goes. Also sneaking in Kamen Rider Jin and Horobi early into the opening was hype. Can't wait to see them in the show proper. Last edited by Xtreme RX; 09-16-2019 at 04:01 AM.. |
