Just ideas people have been throwing around since Disney has been doing stuff Star Wars fans have been wanting for years. The biggest thing fans have been loud about is that the Prequels suck, so some people think Disney will listen to them and retcon it out.
I don't know if it would affect them from a financial stand point (unless they remade the Prequels as the "canon" versions), but I think it would cause a bad fan reaction among the young, unrepresented Star Wars fans if like a 1/3rd of the franchise just up and disappeared like that. |

I have no clue if Disney has an interest in reworking the prequels, but they won't do it for petty fans. Yeah, that would be my main issue, a lot of people grew up on the prequel era, and eventually they will be able to use that nostalgia. |

I have the DVDs with the untouched versions, so I alternate between BD and the DVDs. I will never watch a VHS tape again. I tossed that junk out the moment I got a DVD player. Quote:
That would be the dumbest thing they could ever do. Just becuase people dont like the prequels they shouldnt be taken out of canon. Heck I absolutely hate the prequels and still would be pissed if they just erased them. They are part of the History of this universe and especially this particular storyline. If people dont like them they should just learn to live with it and not be such crybabys about it.
Don't like that Darth Vader was originally a whiny bitch? Big deal. It took him 18 years to get to where he was when we first saw him. People change over time. The only things I don't think work in the prequels from a continuity point of view is Anakin's age and C3PO. In the original movies Anakin was supposed to be Luke's age when Obiwan first met him and C3PO is supposed to be 112 years old. Oh, and I did think it was lame that Palaptine's face was melted by his lightning being reflected at him instead of Force Corruption. I think Rebels is the biggest proof though that Disney is not going to eliminate the prequels from continuity. If they were, they would not have put Clone Wars characters in to the show. |

I didn't know there ever were DVD versions that were untouched. I always thought it was only the first lot of remasters that came out on DVD.

I don't get the big deal about this. Yes, it is a stupid change but I understand where Lucas was coming from. Anakin technically died when he fell into the lava, as such, it makes sense his ghost would be when he actually died as a person, not physically. The reason Yoda and Obiwan are still old is because they died old.

Just because selected people do not like the prequels does not mean they should be eliminated. They might not be as good as the OT, but they are still entertaining movies and have a lot of pieces that redeem them. Don't like that Darth Vader was originally a whiny bitch? Big deal. I agree on people complaining about Anakin, people change and 18 years is a long time. Anakin was in his late twenties when he dawned the suit? So by A New Hope he's at least in his 40s. Honestly, I think a lot of people's problems with the prequels was that what they saw didn't fit their imagintion. It's kind of like a problem with casting movies based on books, where a lot of it is based on your imagination, except everyone generally imagined Darth Vader to have a badass personality with variations within that and Lucas throwing a curveball. |
