She was in all Gavan episodes, just hanging out in Don Horror throne room, and pushing the device to open the portal to the Maku space. In early metal heroes shows, almost every vilain lair had a Star Wars cantina vibe to it, with a lot of weird and different characters.

Not really, she was just a minor character, she never had understable dialog or an episode where she had a special part.
As a note, Gavan sidekick Mimi could morph into a real size bird, so maybe she was there as a kind of dark chick counterpart.

I completely didn't recognize that Guyler was AbaRed and Guardbeast's human form was AbareBlue. There are so many Sentai Actors in this movie.

When I watched the Gavan movie a few years back, I felt they didn't do enough to make bringing this old series back worth watching, like how Kuuga took Black RX's form changing idea and ran with it (and how Agito afterwards made Secondary Riders a staple), or how Super Sentai started to have sixth rangers to help keep the show from feeling the same througout (not that a season can't still drag after they've introduced the sixth ranger, as they usually show up around episode 16 and there's still about 34 or such left is a season).
Point I'm trying to make it that Sharivan convinced me that Toei doesn't necessarily have to add in a new element to the Space Sheriffs, like maybe deputizing a victim-of-the-week with a proto-armor or maybe a new weapon, because this film was fine just as it is. Still curious about where all that blood was coming from when Kai was hacking at Seigi, because the guy's neck seemed just fine when they both de-henshined. Still awesome though. |

Apart from the Go-busters eps and Taisen Z, this is the 1st Space Sheriff thing I've seen, and I really liked it. I guessed Estevan was going to be evil, because Toei ha the storytelling subtlety of a brick to the face, but Guardbeast... that was a surprise. I give this movie 8/10, and will give it 10 if I can be Estevan Reboot. But with black stripes instead of red.

Finally got around to watching this and I have to say, it is definitely the least boring Space Sheriff media I've ever seen. I saw the spy reveal coming a mile off (when the show gives you two characters and tells you that one of them is probably a secret villain, it's almost always really the other one), but the story was still pretty engaging and that final showdown was badass. I didn't expect the film to be this gory, but I guess working outside of Rider or Sentai gave Sakamoto more leniency (which would also explain the many panty shots in Aileen's fight scene - still, she was really awesome and I want to see her return and get her own suit of armor). I liked that the original actor was back this time, too, even if he wasn't needed to save the movie like Kenji Ohba was in the Gavan film.
So yeah, I liked this. If the Shaider movie is this good I'd be down for some more of these at some point. |

THIS MOVIE WAS AWESOME!!!!
I didnt expect to like this movie as much as I did. Arakawa and Sakamoto made some fine piece of Tokusatsu with this flick. The Characters are likeable and fun, the villians are the right mix of goofy and threatening and the action scenes are just magnificent. During the whole fight at the end I was at the edge of my seat. Yeah the reveal was pretty obvious but I got sucked so deep into the story that I actually didnt figure it out even if I should have and would in a lesser made film. I cant wait for the Shaider movie and I want this team to do not only more Space Sheriff movies but more movies about old Toku heroes in general. |
