Welcome to Kamen Rider Kabuto, the show were 90% of the cast have a god complex or other strange issues (like the two hoppers), while the other 10 percent are either female sidekicks, Kagami Arata or cannon fodder aka Zectroopers.
Enjoy the ride. It's crazy, but kinda amusing to watch. |

Can't wait to get into Kabuto. I watched a few eps long ago and don't remember much of it so I'm planning on going through it in its entirety after I finish Wizard and W.

DK 22. Siren's suit looks half finished, but hell yeah for sexy blonde biker chicks.
I found this episode pretty frustrating, if I'm honest. The sense of stakes in this show is just ramping up and up and up, Axe grew into a great character this episode as he went on a warpath of vengeance. I love that this show is allowing a character to lose their shit in the ways that it does, but just as it started to get a sense of momentum, the show took the story in another direction again. Was it some sort of mandated thing to constantly waste the potential of characters we're invested in for the sake of characters we've just met? Grr.

DK 23. God the editing...
Man this show is really moving in a very different direction, I actually don't remember much about this half of the show at all. I mean I thought I did but quite a lot of these things are taking me by surprise so it's clear I don't remember as much as I thought I did but it has been like four years. Do I smell sub text love triangle?! To be fair Kit, I have grown to like you a lot, but you do kinda suck bro... This shouldn't really be a surprise. I mean you've Vented a Rider now, and learnt to stand up for yourself but you do still spend pretty much every fight scene getting kicked on the floor...

Kabuto Episode 2
LMFAO "You're not Kagami are you?" He just freaking knows before he even sees Kagami knocked out. That right there was damned hilarious. Does she salute him every time she greets him in the morning? Also I just love how as the music starts playing, the doors to the house open and get get the shot almost like we're on a tour. Plus is it just me, or does the exterior look like a house Stephen King would live in? Oh my...that music, the way it was filmed, that scene was, was, perfect. The music fit it like a glove, the way it was filmed was amazing, the emotions in it were great, just an all would perfect scene to me. Kagami seems like a bit of a kid to me. He gets overly excited, he throws tantrums. Should he really be working for an organization like Zect that is pretty serious in what all it does? "Do I have to kill a mother fucker?" Tendou seems like he'd be great at a crowd control job. You know even though I knew the minute she walked into that bathroom what was going to happen, I've got to hand it to the show because that was actually a pretty suspenseful scene. The pacing of it was nice and the music just added to it all. Not as perfect as the scene earlier with Hiyomi, but it came pretty close. Also, is that a pen gun she just made? Strange does not even begin to describe Tendou lady. Well Tendou certainly is the self confident type. So much so that if he works with anybody, he must be above them all. Could you imagine actually going to work and announcing "I am the strongest so you all will be below me, including the managers." You'd probably get fired. Did I just see a 7-Eeleven? This Worm looks just like the last one. Do they all look the same before they molt? Or even after molting do they all look the same? Apparently so. Why do they all look the same? Oh God please tell me he doesn't say this chosen one shit all the time. I don't mind if he says he's the best in the world or anything like that, but I'm sick and tired of people in media saying that they are the chosen one. It's cliched and overused. I like the effect for how the armor is taken off. However I will admit I always found it weird that he practically has to henshin twice to get into his main form. It could just be me but I found that weird and unnecessary. Maybe for this first fight it makes sense, but after that it seems pointless. Not your bike anymore bitch. Favorite.Rider.Kick.Ever! Well episode two is done. And my thoughts of it are relatively the same as I had with the first episode. There wasn't really a story here, so I'll just skip right ahead to the other two areas. The was once again pretty cool. The whole fight against the Worms was really cool, and it got damn awesome when they took it to the road. I can also see why Clock Up makes Tendou a literal God in terms of power. He could out move the damn Flash I do believe. And as I said above, I fucking love Kabuto's Rider Kick. In total, the episode had some great action. The characters were once again, there but a little hard to talk about. Tendou was Tendou and his sister was the same person she was in the first episode. Kagami was shown off a bit more, however my words of him so far are not very nice. I find him to be very childish and a little annoying, both of which are making me not like him. There was also some more Misaki, but like everybody besides Kagami, she was the same as she was the last episode. And that's about it for the characters. So once again, a nice episode that was a fun entertaining ride. I just hope the story starts to pick up soon and that the characters give me more to talk about.

DK 24. Aw is Kit jealous?
This was probably one of - if not THE best - episode of the whole show so far. It may seem a little late, but the show is really starting to come together and go places. I dunno, everything just feels like it's clicking. From the leaps and bounds in the quality of the acting in and over suit, to the characters feeling closer and closer to their Rider counterparts. It's like the show has finally found its footing and the quality is just ramping up and up. Sadly the problem with this is a lot of the first half of the show feels kinda pointless now, there were episodes that were setting the groundwork for the developments happening now but we have almost half of the Rider count dead already and minus Spear, who leaves his brother behind, they pretty much all died for nothing. That may be the point, but with characters like Thrust and Camo dying pretty much as soon as they were introduced I dunno why the show didn't just cut them out all together. Speaking specifically of the episode, Damn Dragon Knight looks good in gold and black. Onyx's introduction was just awesome, easily one of the best fight sequences in a very long time. Maybe one of the best in the whole series. And then when I think the episodes blown its load in the cold open, we get that SPECTACULAR flashback fight sequence with all the Ventura Riders together. Given what I know about Ouja, and the way Strike was introduced, I'm kinda shocked to see how soft Strike is compared to Xaviax. It isn't so much a bad thing, but with O'Leary's charms and clear enjoyment of his role you sometimes forget that he is this world destroying alien forcing innocent people to kill one another so he can save his own planet. It was nice to get an episode that really focused and highlighted how much of a bastard he really is.

DK 25.
If you can hold on, and keep up with this shows very unfocused storytelling Kit's character arc really is very enjoyable. I kinda hated him at the start, but following him on this journey I've really grown to love him. Although more action is appreciated, the generally crap editing kinda undermines some of the shows better action moments. For example, the dream sequence featuring Onyx vs Siren was so so so AWESOME but the grainy, low quality Ryuki footage makes it really obvious where the lines begin and end and it's really distracting. I didn't forgive it in the early 90s with MMPR so in 2009 it just seems inexcusable. Couldn't they have at least tried to clean the footage up? Even the American Fights don't come off that great, footage from Ryuki is always edited in as awkwardly as possible and due to budget constraints they edit it so you think you're seeing more than you are, but it's done so poorly you totally notice they are just cutting corners. It also doesn't help that the action is so epic in the Ryuki footage and weirdly static and clunky when in the American fights.

I still don't understand why they keep adapting Rider shows that are a bajillion years old. DK was made seven years after Ryuki. The target audience would've been in daipers or fetuses when Ryuki was airing. Why not something more recent like Den-O or Kiva?

Kabuto Episode 3
The Worm didn't get defeated, it got slaughtered. There's a difference Kagami. But you are young, so you still have much to learn. But you have too much to learn. Thank you Misaki for what I presume was firing him. Hey look, a Worm that looks different then the rest! These things are like the sect version of the damn T-1000s. Except they don't appear to be able to turn their limbs into weapons, or regenerate, or copy the voices of other people...okay so they are slightly like the T-1000s. Hiyori seems like a slight bitch to me. How is she still employed exactly? Regardless of the country, having an attitude like that towards a customer is not excepted. Why is she giving an attitude to everybody, especially Tendou, somebody who is saying outright that she makes the best mackerel miso around and wants to have more of it? She's just coming off as a bitch who needs an attitude adjustment (insert John Cena joke here). How come they keeping referring to them as the Worm and not the Worms? That doesn't sound all too right to me to be honest. Now if that was the name of the organization then yeah I could see it. But they referring to them all as just Worm, even when there are more then one around. So yeah, why aren't they called the Worms? So by that Kagami means that is whole family got wiped out by Worm and wants to see them dead. And to do so, he joins up with a police/military force. This sounds strangely familiar... Huh so I guess those are pen guns. Really elaborate pen guns. Why did Misaki go undercover? Couldn't she have just gone in and asked to speak with the girl imprisoned? This seems like a little bit too much just to see which girl is the real one. Does Tendou just play that music on repeat? It's always on whenever there's a scene at his house Cover blown. Nice job Kagami. I now officially name Tendou Souji to the most bad ass main rider I have ever seen. EVER! Dude's just strutting through the police station like it's nobody's business. And he's taking care of the guards with even doing all that much. I know I'm only 3 episodes in, but hot damn am I loving Tendou. What a twist! Man Tendou and the Worm must have a thing against amusement parks considering they're wrecking this one to no damn end. You know my parents always say that I have this attitude that the world resolves around me, which I don't. But the next time they say it, I am so using Tendou's line from this episode. It would be too perfect not to use. "It sure is hard being popular. I don't even have time to eat." Dead Well that's the third episode. How was it? It was like the other two really nice. Though to be honest, this one was a bit better then the last two. There was an actual story this time around that dealt with Yuki and her plight to prove her innocence (well until the twist comes up). It had a nice beginning, middle, and end to it. The pacing was done well too, and fit the story nice and snug. It doesn't really add much to the main story though. However going by the episode 4 preview, this Ryou guy may play an important part. Anyways I thought the story presented in the episode was actually there and done very nicely. The characters still seem a bit not there though outside of Tendou and Kagami. Kagami though in my opinion got a bit of development, but not a whole lot. He is definitely childish, but he can become serious when the time for it arises. Plus it does appear as he has something he's hiding (which I probably called spot on earlier), so that gives him something. As for Misaki, meh. As for Hiyori, she's a bitch with an attitude problem. That's about it character wise for this episode. Like the last two episodes, the action was just so good. The fights are just impressing the hell out of me, and most of it is due to the slow motion/clock up moments. They just looking stunning. My only real gripe with the action this episode is that I wish they would have fought on an actual roller coaster that was moving, and not one frozen by time. But really that's not even a gripe, just something I think would look cool. Once again, the action is great. Three down and I'm liking what I see. This episode like the others was chock full of entertainment, and this time brought a story along with it. Another great episode to put in the cap of Kabuto.
