Yeah, just after they beat the Daitanic. I didn't watch all the way through, because I didn't think I was gonna get anything significant from it.
Aiming to finish the show tomorrow. A very enjoyable slice of 90's toku. |

I watched the final 4 episodes of Ohranger today. You know, I like a lot of what goes on here, but I wish the whole taking over the Earth had been done sooner in the series. Also, Gunmajin is absolutely worthless and is only there for plot convenience and lazy writing. As a whole, the series is quite mediocre, but it does have some truly great episodes and moments in it. And to be honest, for as lackluster as the ranger cast is (their development is terrible as not even Goro is really all that developed), I'll take it over anything that came out after Gokaiger.

I just finished up Ohranger as well.
First things first: My, oh my! What a gloriously absurd finale. I think the last four episodes of this show stand up to any Super Sentai ending arc I've watched. The reveal of the Cho-Riki homeworld is... well... I don't want to ruin it for the uninitiated, but it is INSANITY, and I loved every second of it. The Machine Empire’s full takeover of Earth is terrifyingly well-realized. Kaiser Buldont and Maltihua prove to be exactly the cruel, intimidating villains the show lacked for so long. One of the show’s most annoying villains pulls an about-face and reveals hidden depths. The action remains brutal and sophisticated, and the cinematography is on-point. There are even some shocking deaths! (Err… okay… near deaths.) These episodes pack in pretty much everything I want from a Sentai finale and distinctly raise the overall quality of the show a few notches. But look, in spite of all the ending awesomeness, Ohranger is not the greatest show. As Kain said, it has its share of fantastic episodes -- I'd put the first 8 and last 4 up against the best of the franchise, and I'd even go as far as to say that almost every episode written by Sugimura is on-par with Zyu, Dai, and Kaku, in terms of plotting and suspense (though admittedly, not always in terms of character and theme). But not all of the show's writers were able to acquit themselves to the post-terrorist attack retool quite as gracefully as Sugimura did. Soda turns in some painfully bland and derivative stories here, and Inoue churns out what are easily the laziest scripts I've seen from him. In a surprising turn of events, Uehara occasionally escapes this trend and returns to the franchise he helped build with some legitimately charming comedy, but those episodes are few and far between. Where this show really falls apart is in its approach to character. Namely, that none of the characters have any. I could sit here for days trying to distinguish Oh Green and Oh Blue and come up with no satisfactory results other than, “that one has longer hair than the other one.” Momo is cute, but that’s about it. And Goro – while starting in such a promising place, as a hyper-competent, highly decorated military leader – is extremely flat. I think Juri is the most interesting (I'm actually finding that female yellows are often my favorite characters in any given season), but that is just by virtue of the writers having so many conflicting approaches to her. Whatever the cause, the result is a surprisingly multifaceted -- if utterly unlikable – character created, it seems, completely by accident and with none of the writers themselves realizing it. Riki and Dorin are mostly just there (until the end, where they are the center of some truly startling events). But through it all, in spite of the crap characters and the attempts at humor that fall completely flat, Ohranger is still a totally worthwhile series. It consistently has the best action cinematography of any Sentai series I’ve seen, and when the show is firing on all cylinders, it’s a thrilling ride. As far as ranking within the franchise goes, I’d place it solidly in the middle of my list, which currently goes… JETMAN > KAKURANGER > GOKAIGER > DAIRANGER > SHINKENGER > OHRANGER > KYORYUGER > TOqGER > GO-BUSTER = GOSEIGER > MASKMAN > MAGIRANGER |

Hmmmmmm, if I were to rank every Sentai show I've seen in full, it would probably go:
Dai > Kaku > Zyu > Geki > Car > Aba > GoGoV > Jet > Time > Gokai = Ginga = Mega > Live > Gao > Hurri > Mask > Bio > Five > Deka > Magi > Oh > Shinken > Bouken > Kyoryu > Turbo > Go-On > Go-Buster However, my bottom three would be ToQ, Gosei, and Dyna because I couldn't bring myself to watch more than a handful of episodes. |

Oooh! Oooh! I wanna join in on the fun!
Gekiranger > Kakuranger > Gokaiger > Dairanger > Megaranger > Dekaranger > Goseiger > Jetman > Kyoryuger ...Aw, I don't have much of a list. I couldn't finish Liveman, Sun Vulcan, and Shinkenger out of sheer boredom, while I just didn't ever really get into Boukenger, Go-Onger, or Magiranger. I started OhRanger and Timeranger, but they weren't finished at the time and I couldn't continue.

I'll come on down and play the Feud. And my list is fairly short as well. There's definitely a lot I've started and just got distracted by other stuff to finish (Liveman, Kaku, GoGoV, Time, Gosei, Nin), so this will just be of what I've seen beginning to end.
1. Dairanger 2. Gokaiger 3. Abaranger 4. Jetman 5. Gingaman 6. Hurricanger 7. Megaranger 8. Zyuranger Hurri and Ginga could be switched maybe. It's been a while since I've seen Hurricanger, which ironically was my favorite until Ginga came along. Maybe I should give Hurri a re-watch (it would be my third time watching it).

I continue to watch Dekaranger, for some reason I really like this show and I'm not bothered by the usual Sentai tropes like role calls and the whole "Bad guys grow big after been beaten once". Maybe because Dekaranger has more of a sci-fi setting with aliens and all which I enjoy quite a bit, and because aliens that grow big as part of their biological abilities is something I can accept, because Ultraman does the same.
DekaRed is quite annoying at times because of all the shouting and the cliché "Red vs. Blue" fighting among the team, but I think the rest of them balance that out quite nicely. I think Green is my favorite because he’s so chill and sometimes a little bit weird. His focus episode with the alien that cuts cars apart was really nice. The effects are awesome, some CGI shots like DekaRobo slinging his gun are rather annoying but passable. Think I continue to watch this on the rather slow release date that OverTime is doing, that also might help keeping me interested because it prevents me from getting too tired of the usual Sentai-stuff. But one question: Why the f* is there no DekaMaster SHF Tamashii?! The hell, he’s the best thing ever. His fighting scene in Episode 13 is amazing and he’s the only character from the show I want in SHF-form. Oh well, maybe Dekaranger Returns can bring forth a new Sentai SHF… maybe. The Tamashii Nations Event isn’t too far away now… fingers crossed for a DekaMaster prototype shown that actually gets released at some point. Because that's the only Sentai SHF I desperately need. |

Heh, I wanna do mine too
Gokaiger = Dekaranger > Magiranger > Jetman > Go-Busters > Liveman > Gekiranger > ToQger > Dairanger > Shinkenger > Go-onger > Zyuranger > Gaoranger > Kyoryuger > Goseiger > Boukenger > Sun Vulcan Need to get around to watching Ohranger now that it's all out. Even if it isn't all that good I've been looking forward to it for a long time. At one point I'd watched all the completely subbed Sentai out there, and now I've got Maskman, Kakuranger, Ohranger, Carranger, Megaranger and Abaranger to catch up on

I initially considered revisiting Sun Vulcan after finishing Kuuga, since I shit talk on it so much I should at least watch more than 10 or so episodes.
But then I realized I didn't want to watch two boring ass shows in a row. I'm still torn between Zyuranger (Dat MMPR connection makes me eternally interested), Abaranger (I hear it's a lot of fun), and Ohranger (I was mildly interested after watching the first 8, so I'm curious in how it shifts in tone).
