I rated this episode as poor. Hear me out.
There are times where Power Rangers makes you think 1 of 2 things: 1) Wow, this is Power Rangers! 2) Wow, this is Power Rangers? Today's episode made me feel option 2 where once again it felt unnecessarily pandered to the young demographic we know that Power Rangers is aimed at. And while many of you will say "Well yeah, it's made for kids" ... there's two types of writing for kids - talking down to them and being entertaining for them. It felt like this episode attempted to be entertaining for them, but at the same time felt like it was written down to their level. Fourth episode with someone getting something in their face. Fourth episode with our "bullies" being humiliated by the heroes. Fourth episode with Brody showcasing that he really can't act. Fourth episode where something new is introduced with no real explanation, just "Hey guys let's try this!". If that works for you - awesome. Seriously, I'm happy that it works for you. But it doesn't work for me. As always, the story of the season ("Where is my brother? Where is my dad? Where is the final Ninja Power Star?") take a backseat to "Brody needs to be center stage" and "Random character development A". As opposed to figuring out HOW IN THE WORLD PRESTON GOT MAGICAL ABILITIES, we're more focused on him not using his powers for personal gain. That's a great moral except when the moral is based around an ability that is entirely based on showing it off to people. So far, Ninja Steel has failed to impress me. I fee like Dino Supercharge has just continued but with a new cast. At this point, I think I'm done waking up early to watch it and instead will catch it online at a later date.

Okay, question from someone who doesn't watch the PR side of things anymore. This just really stood out to me suddenly.
The promo image of the cast all together...The white ranger's about the same size as the others while the pink ranger's the shortest of the team... How exactly does the stock footage work then if shiro ninger in the original footage... ...is the shortest member of the team...? I mean I highly doubt they went in and re-shot most of the action shots for consistency's sake, did they?

Has Judd Lynn reached his burning point then?

The episode was alright, and just alright! They explain some and leave the rest open-ended. It's neither strong nor weak!
P.S.: Ripcon's mother is Hamhock!?!? P.P.S.: Why does SpongeBob have it next Saturday? I don't see a new episode listing for next weekend! |

Episode was alright. Pretty standard fair for "Neo-Saban" shows.
What bothered me the most though is that it has been two episodes now without the Rangers trying to find the gold ninja power star. You'd think it would be their number one priority right now. |

Judd Lynn no longer is no longer the head writer. I mean, he's credited, and I'm sure he takes a bigger role in the premiere episodes, but the head writer is now Becca Barnes and the "Power Rangers Writing Team", or whatever they're called, which consist of a number of New Zealand writing interns.
On Twitter she stated that Judd still has final say but that he's more or less the easiest boss and signs off on it. This transition started during "Dino Supercharge". And while I have no ill will or feelings towards Becca, the writing change shows and in my opinion is for the negative.

I will say though, their transition/training suit looks awesome. If they had them wear the Ninninger helmets while wearing those I would have thought it was an original power-up suit.
