Faiz is still the best arc in terms of replicating tone and lore without getting them transforming for fan service. Ghost somehow elevated the series. Kind of wanted Ghost to go that route. It's like when decade au world was better than the original. Kabuto was better than agito and blade in terms of "epilogue" or continuation to original series. The meteor stakes like ginga wasn't that developed and the cast didnt show how serious it was. But another kiva was the more interesting another rider. Somehow another hibiki and another zio could of been the same person, but I guess he's back as deno.

The episode was kind of a mixed bag if I am to be critical but as a Kabuto fan I have to say this was extremely enjoyable to watch.
The Tsukuyomi reveal just seemed to lack impact. The scene where they reveal her young self just doesn't have enough build-up. I find it odd that Schwarz didn't recognize her as his sister from before despite wearing the exact same outfit lol. But it does seem she has some kind of special power that will undoubtedly play a big role during the endgame. I did like how they remembered Tsukasa's costume-changing gimmick. The Meteor sub-plot was fun; Woz's illustrated plans made me chuckle and I liked Sougo's reactions to Ginga Finally Taiyou form burning him. The form itself looks fantastic and I love the special effects work but it's also kind of a weird situation to debut it in. Ooh, and we get another insert theme too! ...At the expense of having Full Force or Lord of the Speed play, but hey, they played some really iconic Kabuto OST themes instead and I am perfectly fine with that. I loved all the callbacks they had, from Kagami thinking back to when the Kabuto Zector rejected him through flashbacks, Yaguruma and Kageyama moping while having cupped noodles, to Kagami comparing Sougo's oddness to Tendou. It's also good that we have solid confirmation that Kabuto's timeline is completely separate from Zi-O's and that they have merged. The fight scene was incredible. The six-way henshin was shot and edited so flawlessly. The way it circled around them as they all transformed will make for a memorable scene in the franchise's history. Gattack and Kickhopper lost too quickly IMO but that's nitpicking. I think the Kabuto Zector choosing Kagami is well-earned looking back at the events of the original show and man, was it satisfying to see him turn into Kabuto for the first time. Epic battle and I'll never get tired of that Rider kick. Honestly though, felt so bad for Yaguruma. All he wanted was to be with his bro again. The last scene where he asks the Worm to call him "aniki" one last time, only for the Worm to deny him and crumble into dust is heartbreaking. Knowing everything they went through, it just adds more tragedy to an already pitiful story. But I guess it's true to their characters and I'm impressed that they addressed such an ambiguous scene from the original show. Next up is Den-O! I can't wait to see Yuuto and Deneb return. Oh, and Zi-O Grand?! Wait what? |

I bet Grand Zi-O's debut is gonna be like Build's Genius form, show up at the very end of the episode then the next episode, we see it in action. Only this time, we have to wait TWO weeks.

Obvious retcon and bad writing, I'm sure the main writer have a jist of ending of ohma from start, but along with time jackets he doesn't know how to flesh them out instead going for a idk sitcom 2 parter aspect where there's no foreshadowing or build up during most tributes , but hit you with a face smash of clues and then doesn't follow up for another ten episodes. The driver destroying arc, ohmaDay another zio, and current tsukiyomi mini arc feature decade. I feel like he should just state his hypothesis already. We're getting grand zio and 20 watches next week as well as hitting 40. I'm sure like build they will opt for an clip show episide trying to forcefully link everything together. I'm not sure if zio is a paradox like terminator or avenger/dbz alternate timeline that doesn't affect the main one. It's such a waste of decade, his actor improved so much, but I feel like he doesn't have a lot to do or impact. Another decade maybe ?

Honestly dude you clearly hate Zi-O to the point you made 4 consecutive posts about how Zi-O is bad in last week's thread, why the hell are you still watching something you clearly aren't enjoying? I can't be the only one to go "Well, not liking this at all after plenty of episodes, time to stop wasting my time with it" right?
I disliked Build and kinda forced myself to watch it during a stressful period in my life. I still dislike it- it took some people on this forum to convince me to drop it if I'm not enjoying myself. Nowadays I like to rail on the show with other detractors, but also like to speculate on ways to "fix" it (I'm sure plenty of people have done the same with shows they disliked). Back on topic... to be honest, you're getting on my nerves, VoidInToku, seeing several of your last posts. Not just the fact that you post multiple hate rants on a show everyone but you seem to be enjoying. But also the fact that some of those rants are one after another. ...Void, no one is forcing you to watch Zi-O. No one except yourself, if I'm to be observant. "But the returning riders are clickbait-" I don't care if they're "clickbait". It's an anniversary series- of course it's going to be clickbait! (EDIT: "Too far in to stop" is another excuse I've seen people use and that never stopped me with Build.) Stop watching this show if you hate it. Otherwise, please try to be constructive, instead of posting the same "the cast is boring, the story is nonsensical and full of retcons, the writer is an idiot, the powerups are dumb, and Zi-O overall is stupid" spiel you keep repeating. ...Sorry for that bit of a rant... Back on topic with the show, Zi-O is getting pretty nice. I'm happy they're answering a couple of these questions we've been having. One hope of mine is that Sougo, Swartz, and Tsukuyomi are all one dysfunctional family. Flip the script on the "evil father" trope, you know? Last edited by MangaArtist18; 06-08-2019 at 09:59 AM.. |

Hey everyone, guess what time it is!
Yeah, I don't believe it either, Kagami, but congratulations, pal, because it's time once again for Zi-O to right wrongs from over a decade ago. This episode was spectacularly fun and matched the spirit of Kabuto perfectly. Huge scope. Big spectacle. Maybe some slightly illogical plotting here or there, but you know, that's all part of the show. Nothing screams Kabuto quite like a Zecter flying in from seemingly out of nowhere just because it'd be cool for it to happen at that exact moment. Also just like Kabuto, nothing personally hit me on any real emotional level, but even as someone who is fairly mild on that show (by my standards anyway), it's hard to deny it's great to see Kagami getting the credit he deserves. Putting aside how weird it is to crave approval from a robot beetle for a second, I like how this was less about getting a "promotion" from being Gattack and more about acknowledging the growth Kagami has had as a character. Between that and the way the Punch Hopper plot ends, there's definitely some weight to what's going on, which is good, but honestly, even if it was completely shallow, elaborate spinning transformation shots and ginormous meteors getting Rider Kicked would still be enough to leave me satisfied. Case in point, the Tsukuyomi/Tsukasa subplot. Weirdly unexciting given the gravity of what happens in it, but I can't even be bothered to be upset. Not Zi-O's absolute best, for sure, but definitely a good pair of episodes all the same.

My first and biggest takeaway from the episode: isn't Tsukoyomi's old house the same one that Shiro and Yui used to live in in Ryuki?
Beyond that, I liked this one. It was another one of those tributes that did a good job of taking characters and plot from the original show and bringing them back. Not as good as Blade or Agito's, but definitely one of the better ones. It does suck that we didn't get Tendou, though. So much of what made Kabuto memorable was tied up in his personality. |

The scene of Kagami becoming Kabuto reminded of Sky from S.P.D turning Red ranger.

The episode was pretty good! I've liked the Kabuto arc but there's something that's bothering me.
What in the absolute fuck does this mean? Like seriously what? Are you telling me the shows still took place in different worlds? I don't get it. I'm sorry but you can't have a time travel show and say Zi-O takes place in a world where all the shows happened, but then turn around and go "Our timelines are getting mixed" What the fuck man? I don't like how the writers are treating time travel, they still seem to be trying to go for the whole "Each show is it's own world" thing and that doesn't work. Both this and Build could've been explained away easily for time travel to make sense. "After 2007/2008 ZECT started focusing on rebuilding Shibuya" "Build's world merge put Sento and Banjou in the main timeline in 2017" This shit just adds confusion to something that can be so fucking simple. It doesn't help that shows before Zi-O tried to establish a shared world with all of Heisei and Showa but then shit like this goes "WELP NEVERMIND THAT". With only 2 more months to go before Zero-One, I really hope that Zi-O ends with Sougo returning the powers to their Riders and restoring the timeline, or atleast have them now all confirmed to be merged together. But the some of the writers really don't seem to want that so whatever. Outside of that, again the arc was pretty fun. |
