Good episode, but it felt really fast to watch.
Kento added to the OP and ED as expected. But Ryo or Daishinji weren't yet. I feel like rintaro gag of the year will be he is the only one who never eat any sweets while the others do. Mei clearly doesn't know how to take care of a kid. Don't ever let him alone outside even in a world without kamen riders and monsters :'D Ryo finisher was badass but he doesn't really grow on me yet. Liked the CGI more in this ep. It was absolutely not overkill this time. |

In case you don’t recognise him, the kid was in a recent episode of Super Sentai (specifically, the body swap episode) as that grumpy kid Juru (and later Fire as Juru) have to cheer up.

After watching with subs :
So there is something about Kento. He says what happened 15 years ago was his fault and he should be to blame. And touma would be better not knowing. and when Sophia answers, instead of saying something like "it's not your fault" like you would normally expect, she says "don't take the blame entirely" implying it is INDEED at least part Kento's fault, plus she adds Calibur is Kento's ... without finishing. Either Calibur is a family member of Kento, or maybe he is some kind of teacher. Like Calibur and former Brave would be tutors training kids to be next seiken holders : Kento and Touma. Something like that. But then Kento did something probably forbidden out of curiosity, maybe enter the book of ancients room or something (he is based on aladdin right ? king of thieves lol) which caused Calibur to be able to gain access to it etc... EDIT : Just thinking about it. Daishinji first appearance is kinda lame. The character appears for the first time in the background and is like almost useless like he is scenery only. But its cool, Touma gets the lesson about making promises so easily early in the story so we can get it out of the way. |

Yup, yup. Female sidekick character acts way, way too exaggerated for my liking. Akiko was never this annoying and was always grounded to some extent. Also, will they be using CG for every single henshin and form change? It was rather excessive this episode. Hm...

Anyway this episode was a good time, I felt it was slower paced than the other episodes but that's also because it's setup is as a standard two-parter, compared to Episodes 1 and 2 which were two separate adventures going off one after another. I do find it nice that the Meggido are getting a bit smarter/aren't all doing the same song and dance with our newest one. How Touma ended up remembering Kento was cute, and it'll be interesting to see where he goes given his baggage that we're slowly being let known about. Ryo's also pretty neat, I dig that we have a dad rider immediately. Though it's clear he's a typical old man who thinks he's the one who can handle anything and is skeptical of the youth he works with. Granted, maybe Touma can win him over next week given well, what Touma does next week. |

Did I miss something or was the beginning of the episode pretty disjointed? Introduce Kento, roll the opening, then Touma and Rintaro are off to fight the bad guy again and meet Ryo? I'm wondering if they're combining scenes that were shot for different episodes or something.
It's hard not to feel like there's COVID-related compromises everywhere (maybe even places where it's not the case), but grading on a curve for that, I'm enjoying things so far and looking forward to more. And yeah, Mei needs to dial it down a bit. Or a lot. |

Still not really feeling this show. I don’t know what it is about Saber that keeps me from enjoying it. Maybe there is some sort of thought in my mind that Kamen Rider should have at least a basic standard I can enjoy, because I can watch Kiramager just fine but Saber doesn’t do a whole lot for me.
Mei is entirely useless and way too annoying, the actress should really slow it down with the overacting. Same with the bad guys really, especially the dude who constantly has this weird look on his face. Kamen Rider Buster is cool I guess, but it was kinda weird how he dropped out of nowhere and didn’t do a whole lot except straight up using his finisher. Twice. It's also kinda idiotic how this guy is like "I bring my child to every fight 'cause I’m the best" and then 5 minutes later the child is gone. Like, you’re really not that great at parenting. At all. The action was kinda boring too; just not very enjoyable with all the weird stuff Touma was pulling just to prove a point for the viewer that certain book combinations work better than others. This show is also starting the namedropping thing really early, from Touma's lost childhood friend, Calibur being Kento's... dad (?) and this Avalon thing. Not very into this show so far, I tried approaching it with the same mindset as Kiramager, that being if it's fun it's good enough for me, but Saber doesn't work the same way. Yeah she was. Absolutely not. |
