Jetman is a great show. I do think some people do over hype it as a high art drama show though. Still a very good show nevertheless.

In all seriousness as much as this is great I just hope the subtitle translation work does not burn out the people who work on them. Good stuff though.

I kept pestering Shout Factory about Jetman. I'm hoping my annoyance led to this release.

I talked with the producer of the Super Sentai DVDs and he said that Toei shot these shows on film and edited on Video Tape for many years. It wouldn't surprise me if they wait until Boukenger to start doing Blu-ray releases. If I recall correctly, Boukenger was when they started shooting Sentai Digitally in 720p or at least finishing them at 720p. |

If it has a Blu-Ray releases in Japan, then sure. Otherwise don't fuck with Toei. Both Funimation and Viz were screwed over by Toei for daring to ask to do Blu-Rays of DBZ and Sailor Moon before Japan got them. Toei gave them bad masters to work from because of this.
Meanwhile, Shout just wanted to add subtitles and nothing else and the releases are of equal quality (though I still hope Timeranger is of better quality. I hear the Japanese are crap). |
