Would you mind elaborating on why you feel so? As far as I'm concerned it's probably one of the most cost effective figuarts ever.
List price was 6000 plus shipping for the DX set. Lets say you went with SAL and be generous by saying shipping was 1000 yen. So for 7000 yen (about $69.70 at current exchange) you get probably the most highly articulate figuart ever. With 17 hands, a deluxe display base, and a sprue of additional accessories. Sites like HLJ were selling him for 5700 which as was the case at most retailers is a at a discount, so you can actually work in some buffer on the prices there. But roughly ballpark anywhere from $60-70 USD. That price seems more than worth it to me. Recent Kamen Rider Figuarts like Ghost & Movie Rider 1 retailed for 4860 & 5184 yen respectively. Those figures feature fairly elaborate sculpts and paint apps sure, but far fewer accessories and more limited articulation. Proportionally I say Body-Kun is just as good a deal. But that's just my personal take on it. The price is completely fair for what we get out of this figure. I had a few ideas rattling around, but so far nothing that I think I could execute properly. I am working on a few things though and if they work out I will share results.

I don't think I would call this set overpriced, but an unpainted figure which only really has one sculpted detail but is close to the price range of a Shinkocchou Seihou figure is a bit strange. And most of these have a good amount of accessories too. Painted ones. I mean yeah this set has lots of hands and stuff, but none of it is painted. And the hands don't have any sculpted detail either.
I get that this body makes perfect use of the SHF articulation, but that's not hard if you have nothing on the figure to hold it back. That's not really an achievement Tamashii had to work hard on in this case. Everyone with a wild fantasy and fun articulating figures will have a blast, no doubt about that, but that's your work, not something the figure delivers. That's just my take on it, I don't hate on anyone for liking this figure and I can see it's appeal but I'd rather buy figures sculpted to ressemble designs I like. I don't want to pay money for a blank figure. Still, thanks for the great gallery Den-O, you've put a lot of effort into making it even though you didn't had to since it's not a Toku figure. The battle pics are very well done and I particularly like the slice of life pictures with the couch and the beach setup. It was a joke, don't sweat it |

Because it's $75 for a figure with zero sculpted detail and zero paint.
$75. That's ridiculous. What exactly are you paying that premium for? Articulation? All SHF's are super articulated, suffering if any, or at all, because of the sculpts, and can cost the same or much less. I'm not saying it's a bad figure, but saying a literal blank slate is worth that price tag borders on delusion. You might as well charge $100, or $200 with that logic. And a few extra hands is a paltry excuse. They're a few bits of, again, barely sculpted, totally unpainted plastic. This thing is a novelty at best. It's neat, really neat. But without sculpt or paint what's there to appreciate and justify this mark up? You're just lookign at a blank, boring human shape. I could pull off almost any of those poses in the gallery with my Hibiki or Ryuki, (maybe even more considering Hibiki has those crazy hips built around his suit design) and those are figures with a premium finish, design, and actual personality. Damn why do some people get bent out of shape over a figuart.
The price is $70.00 because you get so many hands, weapons, and a stage with him. The body being gray has nothing to do with the price it all the stuff that he comes with that cost $70-75. |

The other thing worth mentioning that's been overlooked in this review is that the figure also comes with a really nicely done booklet with guides on how to use it for drawing. Along the lines of that booklet that came with SS Kabuto, but much nicer.

no they don't. Unless it's a Shinkocchou Seihou figure Figuarts come with the bare minimum these days.
Yup. But that was five years ago. Good luck finding any new Figuart for that price now. The other thing worth mentioning that's been overlooked in this review is that the figure also comes with a really nicely done booklet with guides on how to use it for drawing. Along the lines of that booklet that came with SS Kabuto, but much nicer. But yeah, no figuarts PERIOD, comes with the kind of accessory load out that Body-Kun & Body-Chan DX's do. It's not fair to draw comparisons to figures that came out 5 years ago either because inevitably costs have risen with inflation and cost of materials. If figuarts like Ryuki were made today they'd probably be double their price, closer to how the Survive 2-packs are priced now. To me these blanks are the new standard of how excellent the line can be. For the price you pay you get a superior figure. And most retail releases come with a few hands and a specific accessory or two but outside first run bonuses that's generally it. Hell even for Seihou's look at how expensive Agito was and he only came with hands and an alternate head

The ultimate win in regards to this figure is that it'll be easy enough to custom it into a Pepsiman.

True, custom potential is limitless for these figures. I actually took the time to use most of a beige Body-Chan, some Fujiko parts, and a vintage Blue SWAT figure to make myself a SWAT Sara.

Also nice set up of the Metal Hero Collection you have there. You should do an update gallery of your Figuarts Collection it would be really nice to see sometime. |
