Okay, great: Is the show still crap?
Cause I haven't been able to get past episode 2 of a series since RPM ended |

Very cool to have representation. It's too bad it wasn't in a better show.

It is pretty nice that Izzy, my favorite of the Dino Fury Rangers gets this.

But tbh Dino Fury was average on its beginning episodes, but to me it gets better and better, especially when Green and Black Rangers joins.

"Entertainment is meaningless if you can't even relate to it."
I cannot relate to any of the characters or scenarios in Devil May Cry but they still have meaning to me. Entertainment doesn't and shouldn't have to be relatable in order to evoke investment or emotion from your audience. As for the topic at hand, it's good, Power Rangers has always tried to celebrate diversity so it's natural for this to happen and I'm glad they're able to do it considering the franchise's history with David Yost and the Dino Thunder censorship from Disney including an open lesbian

It shows children that two girls in love is a normal thing, something that's okay. And I see nothing wrong with that. Maybe try "empathy", that's pretty cool. Some LGBTQ-people cannot be confident in themselves like you do, and media can help give them that confidence. It shows them that they are seen, that they are valid. You're right; you don’t need to "kiss up to this stuff". But you don’t need to be a stick-in-the-mud about it either. |

What's the difference? Can they not have 20-ish minutes of Power Rangers fun with a cute romance scene at the end? Is seeing two girls holding hands and having a good time draining their entertainment or something?

At the end of the day, it's a KIDS show. Kids don't want current year politics shoved in their faces, why do think kids watch things like Avatar TLA, Boss Baby and Trollhunter. Because they want entertainment with the current day progressive politics, not shows that appeal to the 20's 30's something Tumblr crowd like Netflix She-Ra.

A gay person existing is 'modern progressive politics'? Huh?

Yeah, me and countless others simply existing is too political and not what the kids want, instead we need nothing but heteros kissing because there's nothing political about forced homogeneousness

I know you technically said TLA but this was too good to pass up. And come on dude, kids don't get "current year politics shoved in their faces", because being gay isn't politics, current year or past, its love. And love is okay. What children get with their live-action shows and cartoons is social commentary, they always have. In the 80's it was "don’t do drugs or you go to hell before you die", during my childhood it was "don’t play with guns" and "stand up to bullies", today its "being yourself is good, no matter who you are and who you love". Also, Netflix She-Ra is for kids, yes, also teenagers and whoever watches cartoons. Little girls get a kickass show with cool princess doing magic stuff; learn that being in love with another girl is a perfectly normal thing, teenagers and adult LGTBQ+ people get to see themselves. I really don't know what your problem with all of this is and why you think this is all about politics. |
