Seiun Kamen Machineman is a 1984 TV series created by Shotaro Ishinomori. In the series, Nick (a.k.a. Ken Takase), a college student, travels to Earth to study human behavior as part of his doctorate. When he discovers that the Tentacle Organization is out to rid the world of children, he decides to stay on Earth to protect his girlfriend Maki and the youth of the world as Seiun Kamen Machineman.
Yeah, I still can't believe Ishinomori came up with this... EDIT: Since Toei is still on a copyright rampage, here's an image gallery. Seiun Kamen Machineman

The story sounds awful but that suit design is actually pretty sweet.... except for that ridiculous clear cape. I almost get a Rider-Man feel from him with the exposed mouth area.

I agree on the whole clear cape thing though. It's like he's wearing a shower curtain. When I saw this, I thought it looked kinda stupid. Then they had his eyes light up and thought to myself, sweet. I wonder why this and other old Ishinomori shows haven't been shown in all those crossover films. I could see this guy and the others in Super Hero Wars being people who were turned into cards by Decade.

Here's a music video featuring some action scenes.
Oh yeah, you can't have a kids' show without toys.
