The next figure in my Kamen Rider W Figuarts series is my favorite of the three primary forms: Heat Metal, which gives W flame powers and a long metal stick to beat Dopants with.
Packaging This box continues the theme, which I only am now realizing is consistent across the three we've covered so far: the background uses Shotaro's color, and the text uses Phillip's color. Neat. Still, it's a plain, boring, yet functional window box that lets you see the figure, but little of anything else. Main Figure This is third time looking at this body now, and sadly, Heat Metal is more like Cyclone Joker, than Luna Trigger, as far as the articulation is concerned. Back is the one tighter-than-average hip joint, contrasted by the other looser-than-average hip joint, and the floppy inner shoulder joints. Heat Metal isn't quite as bad as Cyclone Joker in that aspect, but a bit more disappointing than I would have though, after how well Luna Trigger's joints work. Still, the articulation is functional, great for getting this figure into all sorts of action poses. The finish is mostly excellent, beautiful metallic red and silver on the body, clean paint, a little bit of slop on the driver, again more on the left side. However, the leg, arm, and abs pieces on the Heat side are noticeably pale compared to the other red pieces. This doesn't look like fading, which is a problem with a few older Figuarts, such as Hyper Kabuto and Kuuga Mighty Form. This looks very uniformly, pale, not faded so much. It looks a bit more pearlescent in finish, rather than metallic. Maybe those are just pieces that were molded in a different kind of plastic and the color just doesn't match up to the rest? Judging by other pics I've seen of this figure, that's just how it is. Accessories W Heat Metal has the same, rather stunted accessory count as does Luna Trigger: 6 hands and two weapons, in this case, the Metal Shaft in storage mode and extended mode. The Metal Shaft looks good, with accurate detailing in the sculpt. The paint is a bit minimal, but accurate to the prop, from what I can see. The storage version is collapsed to be much shorter than the other, and has a peg which plugs into a hole on Heat Metal's back, so it can be mounted there as it appears in the show. The hands are nearly identical to those with Luna Trigger, punching fists, jazz hands, and holding things hands, the only difference being the holding things hands don't have the trigger finger separate from the others. The holding things hands grip the Metal Shaft snugly. Oh, I can also add that I neglected to mention in the Luna Trigger review, that swapping his hands wasn't nearly so difficult as for Cyclone Joker. And again, Heat Metal is much the same as Cyclone Joker, these puppies are hard to put back on. As with the other two Kamen Rider W Figuarts, there are several accessories that would have been fitting alongside this figure, such as flame effects, or again, any of the Gadget Memories, as they can attach to the Metal Shaft (in show), but those were released in the Heat and Cyclone 2 packs. Final Thoughts I could really just copy-paste the final paragraph from the Luna Trigger review, because again, being one of W's three primary forms, this is almost a necessary figure for most people, but it's definitely on the average side of things, as far as Figuarts go. It is a decent figure, and of the three primary forms, it is the most fun for me to play with, but it is lacking in certain areas, certainly not an amazing figure, as I rather expect of Figuarts, and a Renewal of all of Kamen Rider W's forms would be welcome. |

Nice gallary as always. I own all the main forms of W figuarts and I do feel like Heat/Metal is my third favorite W figuart (FangJoker being #1). I always feel like silver and red go great together as colors go.

Thanks! Fang Joker is definitely the best, I'll probably be doing that one after I do another SIC Den-O gallery.
I did find Heat Metal the most fun to pose, even though he's harder to pose than Luna Trigger was. Maybe it was because I found better poses to replicate, IDK. |
