It's a slow news day, but I caught this one over at RangerBoard and thought it should be shared with the masses, if anything, just for an eyebrow-raising read.

Apparently in Saudi Arabia, the McDonalds Happy Meal Samurai Blue Ranger toy stomps his foot on a disc (his Samurai Dragon Disc, mind you). And while no one can really confirm the validitiy of the claim (as none of us have the Saudi Arabia version of the figure), apparently the dragon symbols resemble the spelling of the prophet Muhammad. So when you trigger the toy's action feature, the Blue Ranger smashes his foot down upon the name Muhammad, over and over again.

Interesting.

I got nothing for this one. Join in our discussion and see if the Blue Ranger hates Muhammad or if this is one of those coincedence stories.

Too bizarre.

Something else to consider. I have heard that in some Middle Eastern countries, to show someone the bottom of your shoe is very rude, as it suggests that the person you are showing it to is... something you just stepped in. Perhaps this is part of the problem, as Blue Samurai Ranger is showing us the bottom of his boot?

Hmmmmm...I can read arabic, and I've seen the spelling of Muhammad, and it doesn't look like the dragon symbol at all to me, then again (I think so don't quote me on this) some middle eastern country banned Pokemon

Its stupid and quite frankly, typical Saudi. I am a Muslim. Born and raised. I'm not what passes as a "good" one mind you but I can tell you whatever rulings or fatwas that come out of Saudi Arabia are as valid as grumpy old men talking world issues at a coffee shop.

Hell, not too long ago these Saudis intended to close Masjid al-Nabawi because they felt that it had become and I am not joking when I say this a "Shrine" where Muslims were actually visiting the mosque for the wrong reasons such as to "worship" Muhammad when they should instead be praying to God (or Allah if you prefer).

Quite frankly, the Saudis or at least the ones who seem to be calling the shots have little regard for culture outside of Arabia. Which is surprising since most geek Arabs of my generation seem to love Go Nagai and Grendizer.

I can see how something like this can be conciderd a problem and get pulled. but that aside, that blue ranger sure looks like he was animated by the guy that did morph. he looks like dough.
