So I like Ren. I don't love him, but he's not bad. Still can't get over the the fact that he was also TheBee/Punch Hopper
Overall a nice intro to the new Junis, really like his fast paced fighting style. But as we learn later there's a reason for that.

New Opening and Ending!
I already loved Junis Blue (though Amphans it's still my favorite) but seeing his battle style made it even better. Ren is cool so far, as noted by Komon he's too nice, but we'll learn more about him soon enough I hope Yuu. The supporting Jun characters left in a good note too. I liked that. But by far my favorite addition to the show is Mizuo, the memory police is such an important part of Nexus that it feels weird how long it took them to add a character from the organization. By the way "Unknown Hand", seriously guys? Come on! Nice set of Nexus even with the time invested on the recap. |

Unknown Hand is the lamest bad guy codename ever. Sounds like a Mario/Super Smash Bros villain
I think I'd like Ren more if he was abit more serious like Jun. I really became accustomed to how gruff and tough Jun could be. And he went out like such a heroic badass that it's hard to top him. And I've gotta agree that at first I wasn't a big fan of Mizuo but she grows into a pretty significant support character too. This set of episodes is where the show changed tonally in a pretty up front way. This is the point where they knew cancellation was coming, it's more evident as we go along too.

Anyways, it definitely changed it's tone, it's way more upbeat now for good or for worse. Nice to know there's a reason behind it. |

25: Recap episode. as far as recap episodes go it was ok.
26/27: I'm really liking this kid, I thought he was going to be the standard Toku protagonist, you know traveler, orphan, smiles at everything, however he does seem to have some depth to him. It's also nice to have an Ultraman who doesn't get his ass handed to him during every fight. I really like the progression of how in the past Jun was kind of a mentor to Komon, and now Komon is becoming a mentor to Ren, it really shows his progression as a character. I also love the opening, not as much as "Hero" but it's still really great. I am honestly looking forward to watching next Wednesday. Oh and Nagi is back to being an Uberbitch, just when I was starting to like her. Oh well you can't have everything you want. Last edited by Lorrid; 08-28-2013 at 05:46 PM.. |

Meh I can tolerate Nagi, at least she has a personality, unlike the other Night Raiders.
Plus her treatment of Mizorogi was awesome. |

Episode 25: Recapping yo. I always love that no matter how much a person can save the day, they are hauled in for interogation like that. Some gratitude. A little sad that Negoro got caught, but it was going to happen eventually. Also we have a inside job going on a TLT and a new MP member...hmmm. And we finally see the connection to The Next mentioned.
Episode 26: I'm still watching Nexus right? Huge tone change happening there. The new opening song isn't as catchy as the last one, but I like the footage with this OP more. I'm liking Ren from the get go. While I didn't hate Jun, Ren definitely feels like a protagonist I can get behind and connect to. Also laughed that the MPs are be characterized as a monster by the ignorant populace Episode 27: Junis Blue is rather impressive. He's got a speed and confidence the previous Nexus didn't really have. The Unknown Hand factor is interesting factor, but an expected one. After all, something had to be had sending the Beasts to Earth and something had to have tempted Mizorogi with the darkness. And we have the Project P.P. and it seems Illustrator and Ren know each other. Things definitely got more interesting this week. Really looking forward to the rest of Nexus because the reboot tone change definitely feels for the better I KNEW Ren looked familiar. Didn't recognize him without black hair. I can definitely tell he's a character I will enjoy more than Kageyama(hated him untill his fall into becoming Punch Hopper). |

I'm up through 26. Thoughts so far:
Twenty-five sure was a clip show! Interesting info about the spy, though. Probably not a coincidence that they immediately cut to some MP chick we've never seen before. Twenty-six was all about Ren. I like him. Probably because it feels like the writer watched a lot of Kuuga before creating him. He has a lot of the same "Godai Lite" feeling that Eiji from OOO was also rocking. I'm down with this. In fact, I was kind of disappointed when we cut back to Komon and I was all "Oh yeah, this guy's the real main character. " I'm interested to see what his deal is, but so far I'm really, really liking him. I hope he doesn't put on a bunch of necklaces and dies in the last episode. I like that the monsters and the MP's memory wiping are starting to become an urban legend. It's a cool development and proves that there really is no way to keep all this shit under wraps forever. |
