Is the hood not connected to the actual body? Is that how they're gonna get around the problem of the hood restricting head articulation with the alternate forms?

I think the hood might be made of a softer/different plastic/rubber. That would be one way to get around it.

I zoomed in on one of the images and it seems like it is not connected. That's interesting and we'll have to see how that turns out.
