The TokuNation sister-site, www.pwrrngr.com, has a new editorial on their team theories regarding the 2021 season for P. R., and with so many unadapted Sentai, they have some interesting ideas as to what option Hasbro will ultimately commit to.
I both agree and disagree with their assumptions, but it's better to be safe than sorry when thinking about what business decisions Hasbro will make! What do you think? https://pwrrngr.com/2019/10/30/what-...r-rangers-3633 |

Personally I just hope they save Ryusoulger for the 30th Anniversary.

Since Jurassic Park was released around the same time as MMPR, then it stands to reason something amusing will happen on that end as well (whether or not the Jurassic World sequels in-between are a hit or not), instigating a pop-culture resurgence in dinosaurs, making a dinosaur-centric Ranger team far more appropriate! |

All the arguments presented against Lupinranger vs. Patranger would normally make sense, but the reliance on team rivalry; thieves as good guys; and use of guns? All of that is in stock footage. And if we've learned anything about Hasbro's approach so far from Beast Morphers, it's that non-mech stock footage is kinda out the window and they're going to RPM lengths of making their own stuff.
And since none of those factors apply in the mech fights, there's complete control over the contextualisation here. Team rivalry? Don't need to work it in. Use of guns? Just have them wield it like any other Power Rangers weapon -- or, hell, make your own morpher! Thieves as good guys? Well, phantom thieves aren't really a huge cultural cornerstone in the west as they are in Japan; you could easily play them up as something else like superheroes with their capes. Honestly I think with most non-mech footage being original now, Lupinranger vs. Patranger has a very high shot even though usually it wouldn't. The suits are stylish and eyecatching, the mechs have a solid interchangeable and collectable gimmick, you've got some interesting ideas to catch peoples' eyes even without the versus aspect due to two Red Rangers and a transforming Sixth (Seventh)... with some honest effort, this can easily work. Zyuohger I would kind of say is likely for many of the reasons listed, but I would go against it for one reason: we have an animal-themed season right now. They surprisingly decided to play up what was before a very small and subtle animal theming in Go-Busters into a big part of their motif (even extending to new roleplay weapons and the name of the series) in Beast Morphers, so I doubt they wanna be repeating themes immediately. |

They do have a few shows at their disposal don't they? Let's see, ToQger, Zyuohger, Kyuranger, LuPat, Ryusoulger.

Some also delve into animation and possible cancellation... with the former offering possibilities and the latter offering tears! |

I just assumed Kyuranger seemed likely until I read that article. Animated though I know at this point I definitely don't want, I probably wouldn't bother to watch it mainly because A] I've never been much of a cartoony person outside of anime and the odd show and B] People already don't understand tokusatsu as it is.
I don't think they will go back and adapt a sentai from the 90s or previous for a whole show either, it's just been too long! |
